"This Kit is well worth your money"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I will add to this set instead of replacing it with a more expensive one.
Sound
When you get this set use the heads it comes with until they break or get to pitted to use then go buy remo pinstripes for snare and toms and get an evans emad bass head it will sound like a set that cost twice as much. It's amazing what higher quality head will do for this set.
Features
The cymbals that come with this set sound like trash can lids. Upgrade your cymbals they work for practice but not performance. Hi-hat stand could be better if you get heavy hi-hats the sping inside it not strong enough to support the weight. Bass drum pedal will work but spend some money on a good one. This one will get you by until you can upgrade. Cymbal stands are decent.
Ease of Use
Once you tune the heads this set sounds pretty good out of the box, but once you upgrade and tune the heads its night and day difference. I am very pleased with how mine sound with the new heads.
Quality
I have had my set for four years and haven't had a single problem with workmanship. Don't let the price fool you this set is very well put together.
Value
Once you upgrade the heads this set is comparable to Pearl Tama Gretsch ect... Well worth the money.

"Hasn't died on me yet"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've had my CB set for 2 years now. It has played many shows and I haven't really been disappointed with it's sound in those 2 years. Now, the cymbals were terrible. No further discussion is needed on it. I played with the original tom heads for about a year. They're okay tom heads and you might be better off buying new heads to replace them but really, if you tune them well, they actually sound pretty good. The pedal isn't that good, it's as basic as you can get but I bought a double bass pedal soon after I bought the set so I didn't play with it for too long. The throne broke on me recently but it worked fine for 2 years. Overall, I don't regret my purchase of this drum set. It's my first and it holds up against my friends' expensive drum sets. It really is a beginner's set but as soon as you get the hang of it, it becomes more and the only limit is how much you're willing to put into drumming.

"Definately recommend for starters & intermediate players"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I bought my kit for £100 off of someone from work who's daughter had only played it a few times. I started to read review & the majority were very positive with most saying the same things. Upgrade the heads, buy new hi hat stand & new cymbals. I completely agree with this. since buying the kit a few months ago I have been able to afford so far a new Mapex 5000 double bass pedal (not essential but just wanted one), a decent Evans snare drum head & I found a pair of Zildjian ZXT hi hats for £50! I havent been able to afford heads for the rest of the kit yet but when I do after much research & hearing demo's in shops will go for Remo pin stripes for toms & Evans emad2 for the bass drum. Even just tuning the kit properly & stuffing a pillow in the bass drum I am perfectly happy with the sound for the price, its a great little kit & I would definately recommend it. I think with various upgrades (with some serious bargain hunting) this kit will last me well untill I can see its worth taking a step up & buying a kit for a couple of grand which will be a good few years yet :)

"Pretty nice..."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Bought it because I needed a cheap but effective acoustic set. It had remo black dot heads on it, tuned tight for jazz. I actually like these heads for resonant side heads. I started using 2 ply coated heads, like evans g2 or remo coated emperors, for a warmer sound. It took some work, but after smoothing the bearing edges and buying new heads, I can tune this set up to sound almost as good as a DW set. Its got nice, fat tones, and while the Philippine mahogany isn't as rich as maple or birch, the set still sounds nice. The black wrap finish is OK, except for the fact that you can see the edges of the wrap. Not to special looking. Combined this set with a 24 inch RMV bass drum made of maple, and this set is one of my favorite sounding sets that I've played. Except for the cymbals. They are complete junk. So cheap that they don't crack; they bend. Buy new heads and cymbals, and this set is amazing.

the only way i would buy a new set is if i just wanted one.
Sound
if you don't like the sound with the original heads you should go out and buy remo power stroke 3's it will cost about $100 but it is sure worth it.
Features
it has overall excellent manuverablity with the hardware which is helpfull in tight spots.
Quality
entry level quality that produces professional sound with the right heads.
Value
great value for a great drumset.

"CB Drums SP Series review (4-Piece kit)"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
First off, let me say that my headline says 4-piece kit because I did not take the snare with the rest of the kit. Moreover, the CB Drums kit I have looks exactly like this one, but I have the "CB Drums SP Series" kit. Let me explain: Now, I already had 2 other kits, but a friend just gave me this CB Drums SP Series kit to me (22" bass drum, 12, 13 rack toms, & a 16 floor tom). Actually, he got 2 of the same exact kit for dirt cheap, but in different colors, so when I showed him how to change/tune the heads with some spare heads I had, he actually gave me the black kit & kept the silver sparkle one. I like this CB Drums kit so much that I decided to use it as my beater (gigging) kit for smaller gigs, but I also practice on it in my basement (keep as humid proof as possible). For starters, I'll say that these drums sound excellent if doctored up, but the hardware/stands are NOT that good at all.I already had good stands & cymbals, & I have several snares, so I add them to my CB kit with Evans Black Chrome heads on toms, & Evans Onyx EMAD on the bass drum, & with those heads tuned up nicely they brought the kit to new life. Sounds on par with my Tama & Ludwig kits.I also threw on my Iron Cobra 600 double pedal on the kick, & let me just say that this kit now SOUNDS GREAT! With it being beefed up, it sounds like a good intermediate kit.One more thing to note: since I already have several snare drums, I did not take the CB snare drum that was with the kit. I looked it over, though, & when I checked it out I noticed that it doesn't look so great either (cheap throw, butt, etc). The hi hat stand & foot pedal also looked cheap. However, the toms & kick sound awesome & seem to be sturdily mounted so far, & from what I've read some have used this kit for years & had no problems. In closing the last thing I have mixed feelings on is the wrap around the shells is plastic/fiberglass. There's things I like about this fact, & things don't like, but one of the pluses are they're very easy to clean up.This is a good beginner's kit, but it could also be a good beater kit for a pro. I've been playing off & on since 1981, in gigging bands & such (prog metal/thrash metal, hard rock), & I plan on giggin' with this CB Drums SP Series kit @ smaller gigs, because it sounds more than good, & it seems to me that it'll last for some years.

"This product has GREAT VALUE! For the price, this product is great."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
The main thing about this product is its value. You get MORE then what you pay for, because CB drums can go a long way... Before I bought my double-kick pedal and ride cymbal, I put NO money into the kit, and it sounded great. NOTE: You should replace the heads and hi-hat stand.
Sound
Initially, the sound was horrible. But I tuned the heads, and put pieces of paper towel on them with tape over it, so now the sound good with less ring. I tightened the snare a lot, and put some tape on that as well.
Features
Considering it's a beginner drum kit, it simply has the basic drum hardware, plus stands and cymbals.
Ease of Use
CB Drums can be fine tuned and you CAN get a good sound out of them!
Quality
Made very well, solid parts, stands hold up. I didn't give it ten because the hi-hat stand won't align correctly.
Value
10/10 Value. This kit is worth the price!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to call support.
The Wow Factor
Ok.. it's nice but it's not thaat nice. I gave it 7/10

CB Drums CB5 5-Piece Kit Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
This is a great product. I had my doubts when i was first looking at it but it turned out to be very versatile. Did need to buy new cymbals and drums heads for the toms and snare, but I still have my same bass drum head. Its surprising that I haven't busted it yet considering I am very hard on sets. My bass pedal that came with the set also broke when I was playing. But once again I am very hard on my equipment. I would reccomend this to beginners up to pros. VERY AFFORDABLE. Easy on the wallet.

the thing i like most about it is the color the thing i like the least about it is the cymbols
Sound
well it sounds ok except for the fact the cymbols arent real. i have had them for about three years and the cymbols are just so thin and looke like trash. i dont go around slaming my sticks on them but there kinda cheep. my adviceto you is to get some better scymbols and hi hats and make some thicker ones and mabye you will have mor customers.

"Good budget drums"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
The actual drums are decent. Even with the cheap heads to come with them. Turn them in and I have no problem playing them. Like everyone else I got new symbols and bass pedal. Since those don’t come with the most drum sets I will keep those when I upgrade to my next drum set. But mine on craigslist for $75. Easy and cheap way to get going with playing the drums. I’m sure adding new drum skins would make a nice difference. I’m good with what I have. Most of the time I play with my drums muted to keep the noise down for the neighbors so sound is compromised anyway. This is actually a real drum set. Hardware and symbols are the big compromise.

"A great little set..."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

Great first or second kit. I am thinking of buying a second one to make a cheap double kick. A good buy overall.
Sound
The included heads are great, but will wear out in time, but way quicker than I thought when I bought this Item. Once you tune them to your personal preferences, there realy is no diffeerence between this kit and a pearl forum., at least in my oppinion. The one point on this kit I have to say i DIDN'T LIKE was the cymbals. To be specific, the hi-hat did this kind of 'clamshel' thing on me, and the crash/ ride realy doesn,t do much of either. Yeah, better than none, but you will be replacing them soon.
Features
This kit really did not really have any extra features.
Quality
Good overall, although some better quality cymbals would be nice. The stands and hardware are good quality it appears, and promise to last quite some time.
Value
You are not going to get much better for this price. Even after you replace the cymbals (I chose paiste Alpha, 2002, and 802's), you still have $100 or so left than if you had bought the pearl.
Manufacturer Support

I would have rather gotten the pearl, but was about $150 short and my friend recomended this to me. I am not entirely disappointed.

CB Drums CB5 5-Piece Kit Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
plan on spending some more money on a new cymball and hihat w/ stand because they are of poor quality. the drums themselves sound nice and are worth the money.
Sound
i bought this set off the internet a few yrs ago. the cymball and hihat sound aweful and need to be replaced if you want to sound decent but the set itself sounds nice.
Features
all the drums sound good but the hihat
Ease of Use
drums are pretty easy to play
Quality
no it looks fine but again, the cymballs were not of a very good quality and needed to be replaced. the hihat stand was also cheap and flimsy. other than that, the set is good. put the right heads on it and its a nice drum set.
Value
i think the set is worth the money. frankly, if you want to sound good you are going to need to replace the cymballs and hihat stand. all the toms and bass sound good so overall the set is worth the dough.
Manufacturer Support
i bought the set from someone online and never did any direct business w/ cb.
The Wow Factor
it looks basically like any other drum set. mine is metallic blue and it is nice looking. i replaced the cymball, hihat and stand a few months later. its a good lookin drum set up now with sone additions.

CB Drums CB5 5-Piece Kit Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
I bought a CB 5-piece set almost 8 years ago. I haven't had any problems with the drums. I played a $1500 Yamaha set in my highschool band and decided to bring my set in and combine the two for a couple of performances. There was not a noticable difference in sound quality or playability.
Features
The cymbals that come with this set are alright for a beginner, but don't expect them to last very long, especially if you're a heavy hitter.
Ease of Use
Just like any other drumset, you have to know how to tune and dampen it to your taste.
Quality
As I said, held up for almost 8 years with no problems. My set travels a lot between practice and gigs.

"pretty sweet!"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
as long as I keep hopping it up I will deffinately be satisfied for a while. Well until I get a job atleast.
Sound
I bought this set off my friend for $90 and it was deffinately well worth the money. I have replaced the high hats with camber and I replaced the crash/ride with a proformance. I still have the stock heads on it and they sound pretty decent if you muffle them. Im not exactly a beginner and I think this set is deffinately well worth the money. Oh yeah make sure you replace the stock cymbals cause they sound horrible. Other than that it is a pretty good set.
Features
most useful feature is deffinately the base cause when you muffle it a little it sounds great. Least useful feature is deffinately the cymbals. Through them away. If you play hard on them they bend over and crack.
Ease of Use
sound is easy to get good if you know how to tune
Quality
This is deffinately a strong drum set and can take some abuse
Value
yeah I would deffinately say its worth the money. Especially considering I only payed 90 for it.

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Sound
The drums on the set are decent starting drms, although they could have had much better quality cymbals. Very poor quality cymbals. Great for beggining drummers. Great if your short on money.
Features
It included a crash and all toms.... so pretty darn good compared to other starter sets.
Quality
Very durable, but I would reccomend replacing tom heads if they will be getting a real beating.
Value
Very great for its price, espically for begginers

Bought mine back in 2005 when I first began playing, and I even then I thought this kit was a heap. Cheap drum wrap frayed from the drum shells within the first 6 months, the stock cymbals and drum heads lasted less than 24 hours. Not sure where these other reviews are coming from saying it should be priced up with high quality Pearl/Tama/DW, sure if you whack some pinstripes on it the sound is an improvement but save yourself the money and just buy a second hand Mapex M series for the same price or less, fantastic sound and finishes!

CB is definently a product of low budget and quality and sound, if you need something that wont eat your paycheck you found it i recommend a few more cymbals, a double pedal, and a new hihat stand if you wnat driving drums!
Sound
this set hides some very warm and deep overtones and resonance, i use remo ambassador batter and evan glass resonant heads and they truly bring out the soul of this very musical set! definently a high in the sound!
Features
hihat stand could use some help so i got a new one, the snare throwoff is pretty easy to handle but take care of the snare cord puller or it might let you down the soonest, the 'components' are pretty good
Quality
i have seen better like pearl and tama but they cost a lot and some of us shop around for the best price we're pretty smart, but quality is not the best feature, but its not the worst, i guess you gotta decide for yourself if you want it or not, but don't take quality into hand if you decide not to
Value
like quality i'd give it a fair rating, it wont last a century probably but it will last you for as long as you need
Manufacturer Support

I'm going to play this kit until I have enough money to purchase a DW kit, Still I'm going to keep it as my practice set. It's a really good beginner/intermediate set.
Sound
You need to mess around with the tuning alot to get a good sound. I use my Pearl snare with this kit.
Features
Bass kick is worthless. Buy a DW 5000, great pedal. Cymbals are ok, not great. And the stands are crap.
Ease of Use
Easy to setup.
Quality
Great drumset, Besides the cymbal problems

Once I own this product,(in a month) I will keep it AT LEAST 5 years if not my whole life because I know it will last that long. This drumset rocks. BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sound
This kit sounds great, although the toms and bass drum are a little ringy after you hit them.(its nothing really) You can make it sound like a $1,000 drum set if you spend at least $150 to buy new cymbals(although the cymbals sound pretty good) and put muffler rings in the heads which could also be upgraded.(but probably not necessary)

"BUY THIS NOW!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've owned the cb drum kit for 7 years and since then I've never been disappointed with its sound. But the cymbals really suck, the hi-hat stand and the bass pedal suck. Drumheads isn't bad, I've played way too much. Then I bought Evans G2 Clear, if you know how to tune well, you will get a very satisfied sound. My advice. :)
Sound
You need to upgrade your cymbals to get a better sound, every drum in the kit sounds great except the cymbals. :)
Quality
The product is very well made, you should definitely buy it with 100/100 confidence in price performance.
Value
Compared to other products, this product is excellent in terms of price and performance. Even if it is considered as a starter kit, I think it is a drum kit that even professionals can use.
Manufacturer Support
I don't have a problem because it's a very good drum kit. I didn't need to talk to the company and I didn't have any problems, but it's just a question of curiosity, does this company still produce CB Drums?
The Wow Factor
Has a very attractive appearance 100/100 no life without it :)

"CB Drums"

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
blah... too many things to rate.
Sound
well... cb drums are not very good at all. you can get them to sound alright with the proper upgrades, those being all new: cymbals, harware, drum heads, new snare drum, new kick pedal, and some EXTRA stands for those who use many cymbals. if you are just starting out, and dont really care about sound, and all u want is a set.... u should buy this. its a pretty good beginners set, but not for the more experienced.
Features
needs more/better hardware.
Quality
its alright. it has a bad finish. its just a little plastic strip wrapped around it and painted.
Value
worth the price i guess

"It is Pretty Good"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will be satisfied with this product until I can get the money to buy me a better one. I will probably keep this one for a while before getting rid of it. I would probably have to buy some new heads and some new cymbals. I was just ready to get my first set so that is why I chose this one. This product does meet my musical goals. I would probably kick it up to the next level and buy a more advanced drum set. I knew what I was going to get before I bought it. My favorite thing about this set is the snare drum. Nice sound. I do not like the cymbals though. They will have to do for now though.
Sound
With the exception of the cymbals the sound is pretty good. The toms, snare, and base drum are real good. The crash ride cymbal only sounds real good if you hit it hard enough. I don't get that perfect chick sound when I hit or clasp the high hats together. I am looking for a clean, crisp sounding cymbal

"PRETTY CRAPPY SET"

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
it is an ok set for those just starting out but if you are in a band or considering it, use this only as a practice set or dont buy it at all
Sound
The hi-hats are terrible they make the most annoying "gongch" sound the crash/ride is ok but it is very loud the snare is pretty average, at first it sounds like crap but i noticed after playing it for a few weeks that the sound started to improve. the toms take forever to tune but u can get an ok sound out of them
Features
the hi-hat stand is terrible the bottom hi-hat always wobbles and is always tilting to one side so one side will have a 2 inch space and the other side will be touching the bass drum pedal has a very slow reaction time and makes a "chink" sound everytime u step on it (i couldnt quite figure out how to assemble it and there werent instructions on how to)
Quality
drum heads are very bad it is very easy to break through them so replace those and the hi hat stand and the cymbals if u buy this set
Value
this set is ok for its price but spending about 100 more on a different set is definately worth it
Manufacturer Support
never dealed with company
The Wow Factor
colors are ok but other than that no

"the real feeling behind cb5"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
i understand that for 359 dollars its not going to be the best drum set in the world but i did have higher expectations. I play with a church band i had to bring everything i owned from my own set in. cybals,stands,hi-hats, my own throne (the cb throne needs more comfort included in the final product) this isn't a complaint but some aspects of the set need to be further looked at. (cymbals)I use a cb set in the church band and more recently in school, I actually opened a set today and i had the same reaction when i opened my first set, with work and investment they can be a decent set but only with work and investment.
Sound
you need to get stronger cymbals

CB Drums CB5 5-Piece Kit Customer Review

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
ok. honestly you can't expect great sound from a starter. especially with cymbals. but this really kinda sucks. TIP: replace heads at start and get some with a ring that dampers oversounds and ringing. plus new base pedal and cymbals but still a good starter.

The hi-hat stand, cymbals, and heads need replaced. After that you have a drumset that rules the world!! BUY THIS KIT TODAY!!!
Sound
My parents purchased this set for me when I was 16. I just bought another one today off of a friend. CB puts a lot of effort in their sound. With some new heads and cymbals, you have your self a phenomonal kit!!!!!!
Features
The toms lock, and stay locked. I upgraded the stands to where they don't mount on the bass drum. Great hardwear!! The hi-hat stand is crap though.
Ease of Use
very easy to put together. very easy to suit your taste

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

sounds great for the price, after you work on it
Sound
cymbals are trash, replace all of the heads that you hit, muffle the bass drum, then the sound is pretty good
Features
the crash stand scrapes my crash when i hit it hard enough, pedal is junk, high hat stand isn't so great, but whatever, it's cheap
Ease of Use
since all of the parts have nothing complicated, it is easy
Quality
for the price, this set is awesome
Value
cheap, but if you replace a couple of things it sounds great

CB Drums CB5 5-Piece Kit Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Im 14 years old and i love this CB drum set. It sounds great for it being so inexpensive. My friend has a pearl and my CB sounds better. I play all types of music on this set but it all sounds very good. I have some moon gell on it right now and it makes the toms a lot better. without the gell (silencer) its really bongoish and hums for too long. but with the cymbals and everything going on u dont notice that at all. its a great a set and i bot it used. its old and still nothing wrong with it.

"I Like It"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Very good product the people who hate must have had a defective one.
Sound
I think it sounds pretty good, not the best, but very good for the price.
Features
It comes with everything any other starter kit would come with, you can't really expect the best cymbals in the world on a starter, like some obviously do.
Quality
I've had mine for a year and nothing has had to be replaced or has been damaged. I got 2 new cymbals and just use the one it came with for an extra.
Value
Very good for beginners and intermmediate players.
Manufacturer Support
I don't really know about this one, I haven't had any problems to call the company about.
The Wow Factor
Looks very good, I have an all black one, mine doesnt have the silver snare but it looks cool.

"A Nice Set Of Drums."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I Don't Think I'll Be Buying Another Drum Set For A Cuple Years, And When I Do I'll Probubly Get The Same Set. If The Product Was Stolen I'd Buy The Same CB5 Red Drum Set.
Sound
The CB5 Drum Set, Has Got A Great Sound! I Play Country, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, And Alternitive Rock. The Drum Kit With Out Any Music Still Has A Great Sound To It. My Tip Is Put A Pellow In The Bass Drum.
Features
The CB5 Red Drum Set, Came With An Crash Symbol, The 2 Toms, And The Floor Tom, The Bass Drum Pedal, The Seat, The Hi Hat, All The Stands, A Snair, And A Great Sound. There's Nothing Else I Wish This Drum Set Would Have Came With. The Crash Symbol Also Has A Great Sound. The Selection Of Components Is Great.
Quality
The Product Is Made Very Well. The Finish The Fit The Paint The Sound It's All Very Good. The Product Is Very Reliable. I Can Depend On It. The Product "The CB5 Drum Set" I Think It Would Be Pretty Good Drum Set For The Road. The Way I Use The Drum Set It Looks Like The Toms, And Snair Head's Will Last For About A Year.
The Wow Factor
The Red Color, The Design, The Way It Work's Is Great.
