I was looking for a reasonably priced fully weighted "piano feel" MIDI controller keyboard to use in my studio with the spectacular Ivory piano computer program. Internal sounds didn't matter to me. The Privia did not disappoint! I've been a professional pianist/keyboardist since the early 70s, playing many keyboards of every variety and in the realm of "piano feel" boards, this is the best I've ever played, far surpassing the Yamaha and Kawai it replaces. Those keyboards were WAY more expensive. Excellent responsiveness, key bounce, etc . . really responds when you get incredibly light or really dig in. Matched Ivory perfectly for feel, with no tweaking of responsiveness or velocity, etc. needed. But I received a bonus. The internal pianos are WONDERFUL! Really a great sounding, great feeling piano, and an incredible bargain! Production is what I do, and I would not hesitate to use the internal pianos on a project or a gig. If I don't want to power my whole room up, I can simply turn it on and practice my piano on its own. The internal speakers aren't the best, but more than adequate for that use. In headphones, it's wonderful. It has no line outs, but the headphone out is essentially line level. The other sounds are OK, but as with most digital "pianos", they're not tweakable and the organs, etc don't feel right with a weighted keyboard. The electric pianos are OK, but the Wurlitzer is a standout. And at 25 lbs, you can easily take it to gigs. All in all, a wonderful feeling, sounding, lightweight digital grand. And at half a grand, an insane value! Go Casio!

After researching and price checking several brands for the last year, I finally decided on the Casio PX-150 Privia. I needed several things out of a keyboard, and didn't want to spend a fortune. With the px-150, I got everything I wanted plus more! The most impressive part of this keyboard is the responsive touch and feel the keys produce while I'm playing... it's so realistic. Several others I tested felt cheap, light and like plastic, but not this one. The Privia keys truly feel like the keys on an acoustic. The rich sound while using the damper pedal is very pretty. It sounds exactly like dampers being raised. Also, I can notice more resistance in the the bass end which again, feels so much like an acoustic piano. The Grand Piano sound is just beautiful. It feels so crazy setting down at a keyboard, and hearing it deliver a sound just like a Grand... it's amazing! As for the negatives? My only problem with this keyboard is the volume produced by the built-in speakers. I was expecting the 2 speakers to be louder. My volume is always at max while practicing and playing at home. The PX350 has 4 built-in speakers, but when testing them out, I couldn't really distinguish any difference between the two. If you are planning on using the keyboard for anything other than home use, an amp is definitely a must. So, for anyone who's having a hard time deciding on a keyboard, I say go test a Privia out, and I promise you will fall in love. If your price range is around $400-$600, there's no other keyboard that compares to the Px150 Privia.

I'm a beginner, so my views should be read in that light. I did a lot of research online as to digital pianos that would fit my budget, have decent action with 88 hammer weight keys, good piano sound through headsets since I live in an apartment, and allow expressive playing when I finally know what I'm doing. I know for a beginner the action is very important. The Casio PX-150 fits the bill for me. I got the piano and stand combo at a nice combined price from zZounds. I will get the three pedal feature later. The piano and stand arrived much more quickly than I expected, in excellent condition, and has functioned well in the month or so I've been practicing. The payment plan allowed me to order the piano right away. I also didn't need a digital with lots of voices - the piano sound was foremost for me. I imagine that, if I progress well, I might want to upgrade in two or three years, but for now the PX-150 is just what I wanted. Thanks to zZounds for making this purchase so easy.
