"TOP SOUND, BETTER COMPANY"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Try this or other Ashdown before buying something else. I was SO sure that I had to spend alot of money getting an ampeg setup for the tone I wanted. I took a chance and ordered this because of the Ashdown reviews, and I think I made a better choice!
Sound
Very Much in love with this thing! I play it through a mag410, and I can't belive how great the sound is! you can set your EQ, or at the push of a button, use an internal preset, and I am still just using the preset it is that good! Honestly, after this, I am sticking ONLY with Ashdown!
Features
Active/passive Imputs, level for the preamp, 5 band EQ, Direct Inject XLR, push-button deep/bright boosts, sub-harmonic with level (which you have to play with it to get it to make a big difference), effects send/return, and a tuner/line out 1/4 jack. The only thing I would have changed would be a speakon output, but it's not a neccessity.
Quality
I thought since I had a warm studio, and people constantly have heads over-heat on them, I would have to get a seperate fan on it, but after the first use, I noticed out the side vents, it was blowing out cold air. My head is staying nice and cool. All the jacks are secure, and the knobs are staying right where they are. Definatly NOT a piece of junk!
Value
Way better than most of the other heads I was looking at buying. This being the middle of the road ashdown, it blows new ampeg, swr, GK, and Fender out of the water. Though top TOP end Ampeg is better than this, I believe Top end ashdown might be better.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to deal with them, but all I hear is good things!
The Wow Factor
silver with black? always a good mix. Plus, the vu meter gives it that Sophisticated Look. Like the cab I got with it, first day, had to give it a hump. :P

"Want great bass tone in a reliable package? This is IT!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

I am going to purchase the MAG600 rack head, using this head with my 2 112 Aguilar cabs for venues of up to 300 people, then using the 600 and a 4X10 and a 15" cab for larger venues. I also use this amp in the recording studio.
Sound
This amp has one of the best tones I've ever used. I've owned and played Hartke, Ampeg, Eden, SWR ... and an old 65 Black face Fender Bassman. This amp gives me some great tones, from growl to mellow.
Features
Would like to see a pad on the DI and a footswitch for the sub-harmonics, but other than that, it has all I've been looking for.
Quality
One of our roadies dropped mine at a recording studio ... and I mean DROPPED it! Plugged it in and, except for the light on the meter not working, it played like it just came out of the box. In about 30 minutes, the light came on!!! Must have been in shock.
Value
This amp sells for slightly more than the Behringer "knock-off" of it, but is a substantially better built amp. It is, in my opinion, one of the best amp bargains out there, if you're looking for a good, simple, reliable, all-purpose amp.
Manufacturer Support
In my opinion, support begins at building a quality product so that support is NOT needed. I've never needed it, so that means they did an outstanding job of building support into the amp before it shipped!
The Wow Factor
Love the meter. Love the big knobs. Love the passive/active inputs. Love the XLR D.I.. Love the Sub-harmonics. I mean, who wouldn't find this little amp sexy?

Ashdown MAG300R Bass Head Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I hope to continue gigging with this for a long while. So far so good.
Sound
This head has a nice warm sound that really works for oldies and classic rock. With an Ibanez semi-hollow artcore and a Peavey 4x10 the Ashdown has punch and yet retains the bottom. No complaints for the price.
Features
Seems to be built like a brick house. More EQ options would have been nice, other than that no complaints for the price.
Quality
Appears to be made quite well. No problems yet, thankfully.
Value
This is great value!! A pro sounding head that can be used in any genre. More expensive amps I tried did'nt come close to this one sound wise.
Manufacturer Support
Have not had reason to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
Practical addition. But it does look cool in a 1950's submarine equipment vibe. Unique against the other heads for sure.

"Best value watt for watt."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I am very satisfied with this amp and the only thing that I'm considering replacing it with is the Ashdown MAG 600.
Sound
I didnt give this a 10 rating because I dont think it's perfect but it dose suite my needs for the moment. Actually I think it's a great sounding amp. I can dial up almost any tone I want but I also use an out board EQ for more flexibility. I use the sub harmonic feature to fill the room when needed. This works better when using an extention cab 15 or 18 work well with this feature. A foot switch would be good for the sub-harmonic and the push button EQ,Bass, and Treble boost.
Features
As mentioned earlier it would be nice to have a foot switch for the extra features and maybe a little more in the EQ area.
Ease of Use
This is one thing apart from the sound that caught my eye was how easy it is to dial up a good tone. Very easy to use with no complicated technical features to try to deal with while you'er on a gig. I've had mine for years and still havent found all the tones that this amp can produce.
Quality
This thing is built like a tank, looks great (retro) and very professional looking. Black and silver looks cool in a rack set up. It's pretty heavy compared to most amps made today but I can deal with the weight. From what I understand these things come with poorly contructed fuses and they will blow in a minute. They can be replaced and the amp works just fine. It can be a bit frustrating if you dont know whats going on at the time.
Value
This is one of the best values out there for the power and sound that you are getting in one package. I compared this with Hartke, GK, Behringer, Fender and Ampeg. And I ended up buying the Ashdown. The only other amp that I would have bought would have been an Eden and that was too much for my budget. I plan to purchase the Mag 600 soon for more headroom.
Manufacturer Support
I have had to contact them when my fuse blew and they answered me within the same day I emailed them. Great support.
The Wow Factor
My amps been in the shop twice from not knowing what to avoid. And the time being repaired I really missed my Ashdown. I'm very careful when it comes to connecting cabs to and from the amp because this can cause a fuse to blow. Never connect or disconnect your speaker cabs with your amp still on or you will be in trouble. I love this amp overall. I use to have a Hartke but sold it because I couldnt dial up a good enough tone that I liked. It had the power but I didnt like the sound.
