overall its dope, i took my beats to a whole new level with this bad boy and if someone stole it id be on a sleepless man hunt HAHA.
Sound
sounds great, would probally sound better if i had studio quality monitors
Features
all the features are great, gave it a 8 cause they wanna make more money so they charge you $150 extra for the damn ram. but i got mine fore $11 haha beat that akai!
Ease of Use
you know every one talks about it taking a minute to get this thing down but i was on it like 5 hours straight the first day i owned it and i pretty much got it all down. if you take the time and pay attention to what your doin its easy as pie.
Quality
everything feels good and sturdy, nice strong body and the pads sure can take a beatin. i give it a 9 cause ive had it for a week now and its already froze up twice.. maybe im givin it to much?
Value
this is my first mpc and i think it was worth every penny
Manufacturer Support
have had to use it yet although i tried the support when i had issues with my akai mpk49 and they were useless and just pissed me off, thank god for zzounds though they had me a new one in no time, before i even shipped mine back
The Wow Factor
its very sexy haha but im gonna upgrade from the green screen to a blue and whit aftermarket screen, same one on the mpc5000

"Last traditional MPC."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I love to work with mpc's. Straight forward and quite simple to operate. But still powerful enough to control all ur midi instruments. This might be the last respectful model of a legendary line. Yesterday's simplicity with features of today. I hope this one will live as long as the mpc 60's.
Sound
It gives a clear fair sound. For vintage hiphop it may lack some warmth, punch and thickness.
Features
The basic features are ok. Especially compaired with software. JJOS can turn this nice thing into a beast. With global program editing, non distructive chop funtion...I think this is the best sampler that follows the old mpc line of today.
Ease of Use
Very easy to learn. Might be a little bit more difficult when u start with the latest JJOS version.
Quality
Built quility is not bad IMO. Could be better compaired to the older models. But like cars, tv's and other stuff, things aren't as sturdy is they used to. Weak spots are the outputs and the data wheel.
Value
Like I said, the best mpc for traditional sample bassed hiphop beatmaking that'out there today.(But not as valuable as the mpc 3000 was back in the 90's) Also the midi sequencer is really thight and very easy to use. The 4 midi outputs makes this a very workable core for ur studio to control all ur synths and samplers. Plus the abbility to run the 3rd party sofware makes this one even more valuable.
Manufacturer Support
The worst support u can imagine. It's best to contact ur dealer instead of akai when ur having problems.
The Wow Factor
It looks good. Very practical lay out. Pads in the midle, sliders on the left. Transport, menu, data wheel and numeric buttons on the right. Feels really comfortable to work those long sessions. Mind that Akai has stopped producing this product.

"The Best 16-Bit Drum Sampler out since the MPC 3000/4000...period..."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
If anything goes wrong or its stolen, i would replace it in a heart beat without doubt.
Sound
Great sound from such a small box. Its clean as a whistle, and its sounds as good as what you put through. The headphone output is of good quality, very quiet and smooth sounding.
Features
Downloaded OS 1.21. Its seems pretty rock solid so far. I love using Chop Shop and Patch Phrase. Its also nice to use the FX on beats and recorded samples. I dont have the optional cd rw, but its cool without. The 128 ram expansion is a must, to load lots of programs and samples. I love those pads, they feel nice and tight. los of editing tools, and the zone feature of up to 4 samples is great for sound design, etc.
Ease of Use
The machine is pretty easy to use once you get past the basic. The rest comes in time, once you explore the programming and editing features. Manual is well written.
Quality
To my suprise, the build quality is excellent. The 2500 has a nice weight to it, not a light weight by far. The panels are tightly closed, no rattling. The jacks are solid, and dont feel loose. I like the build over all. The click wheel is also nice over the standard mpc wheels. The click sound actually helps me with accurate dialing, especially with number work.
Value
For serious percussion / sequencing, this machine is great. Its worth every penny spent.
Manufacturer Support
Not bad, but not the same as the old day Akai.
The Wow Factor
Looks are the best part of this drum sampler. It looks very classy in black, and its compact enough to slide away under my desk tray. The screen looks cool, especially the silver 'mpc' logo on rear. The best looking mpc after the mpc 4000.

"The Black Beast Unleashed."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Great machine, excellent feel for drums, perfect for any studio.
Sound
What you put in, is what you get out. With the right drum samples, this thing sounds fat on the bottom and sweet on the top. Its a fairly punchy sound, with a nice thump on kicks. The sound is pretty focused, not muddy or lo fi like the old samplers.
Features
Its everything MPC and some. I like the chop shop and phrase sampling. The different quantize options are amazing, with note shifting, etc. The 'swing' on this machine is superb.
Ease of Use
Once you started playing with it, you get the hang of the main feature pretty quickly. Its a small learning curve.
Quality
Pretty well built, compact and looks very professional. Its got a nice tilt screen, and i like the clicky wheel. The pads feel great for programming drums.
Value
For the money, you get what you pay for. Its solid, tight and delivers.
Manufacturer Support
I dont like Akai support, but who needs them.
The Wow Factor
looks very slick on my desk next to my laptop. It blends in well with my other gear. Its beautifully designed ground up. The MPC logo on the back screen is a nice touch. The mpc 2500 looks like the mpc 3000le, but slimmer and slicker.
