A Stellar Digital Piano with High-Tech Tools to Make Playing Fun!Yamaha's Arius YDP-V240 delivers uncompromising grand piano sound and feel with a room-filling 40-watt speaker system -- along with all the bells and whistles that make digital pianos so fun and rewarding to play. Thanks to Yamaha's Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) sampling system, the YDP-V240 gives you a world-class grand piano -- plus 491 more inspiring sounds, a library of 160 rhythm styles, and a bevy of useful tools for students and teachers. Best of all, the Graded Hammer Standard keybed delivers natural-feeling resistance as only a Yamaha instrument can.
Advanced Wave Memory for Greater ExpressionTo recreate the detailed, dynamic sound of a concert grand piano, Yamaha recorded each note at multiple volume levels. This expression comes through as you play your YDP-V240: the louder notes aren't just louder, they're more present and forceful; and softly played notes are more gentle and mellow. It's all designed to recreate the nuanced way that hammers hits the string inside an acoustic grand. AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling means that the Arius YDP-V240 reacts naturally and accurately to the velocity of your playing, as its 40-watt stereo speaker system faithfully recreates stereo grand pianos, classic electric pianos and organs, string ensembles, and over 100 more sounds to choose from. And of course, there's a headphone jack on the front -- so you can enjoy this instrument anytime.
Graded Hammer Standard Keybed for Believable FeelJust as you'd expect from an acoustic piano, the Arius YPD-V240's 88-key keybed offers less resistance in the higher range, and more resistance in the lower octaves. Yamaha calls this their Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard, and it means that the YPD-V240's keys respond to your touch authentically just as an acoustic piano would. You can also adjust the keyboard's touch-sensitivity to hard, medium or soft to match your playing style or strength. Your YDP-V240 comes with a full complement of three piano-style foot pedals, with support for "half-pedaling" to adjust sustain length depending on how far the damper is pressed.
High-Tech Tools to Make Practice FunGo above and beyond the grand piano, and dig into a symphony of sounds with the YDP-V240's hundreds of built-in voices. Layer multiple sounds and split the keyboard. Add reverb, chorus, and more inspiring DSP effects. Jam along with 160 built-in rhythm styles. And record and play back your performances with the built-in 5-track recorder -- a useful tool for beginning students. Of course, the YDP-V240 gives you all sorts of high-tech tools that an acoustic piano can't -- like a built-in metronome, the ability to transpose the keyboard up to an octave up or down, and the Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) that lets you play along with well-known songs, slow them down to any tempo, and practice left- and right-hand parts independently while the YPD-V240 plays back the other hand's part. The YDP-V240 is more than just a digital piano -- it's your musical collaborator.

Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) KeyboardJust as on a traditional acoustic piano, the keys of the lower notes have a heavier touch, while the higher ones are more responsive to lighter playing. The keyboard's sensitivity can even be adjusted to match your playing style. This Graded Hammer technology also enables the instrument to provide authentic touch in a lightweight instrument. The matte finish of the black keys enhances the keyboard's luxurious appearance.
Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) Dynamic Stereo SamplingThe AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) found on the Yamaha YDP-V240 is a sampling system which creates the realism of an acoustic instrument by using digital technology to record the instrument and applying high-quality, digital filter technology to the recorded audio samples. The waveform of the sound of an acoustic piano differs depending on the playing strength from pianissimo to fortissimo. The AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling can produce such dynamic nuances of various playing strengths. The greater the number of samples used, the higher the expression.
