Exploring Different Tunings

Oftentimes, 8-string guitars have a somewhat standardized tuning of E, B, G, D, A, E, B, E. There are other options to explore, though. Try out A, E, A, D, G, B, E, A. It can help if you use a smaller-gauge string for that high A to get a "drop A" bar chord tuning. D#, A#, F#, C#, G#, D#, A#, F is another interesting tuning. With this guitar's long 27" scale, you'll get nice tight lows even when you tune down.
