I'll be using this unit for a good long time.
Sound
The SS-R1 does a great job of recording. The audio is clean, even at less than optimum recording levels. I use it to record my band live, using my in-ear monitor mix rather than the FoH board.
Features
Comes with a wired remote (that I don't currently use). Has the ability to connect to a computer through the serial port, but that takes some programming. It would be great if it had a USB port, but that's not a big deal as long as you have a CF card reader. BTW, one 2gb CF card should do for most. I've recorded 9 45-min sets in mp3 format at over 300kb/s and still have room for plenty more
Ease of Use
If you are familiar with pro audio gear you should have no probs. The manual is very easy to follow, and once it is set, you really shouldn't need to mess with it anymore.
Quality
the unit is very sturdy. The remote is a bit cheap=ish, more like an afterthought, but not a show-stopper.
Value
The best single rack unit on the market that I could find witih all the features I need.
Manufacturer Support
haven't had any problems with the unit
The Wow Factor
exactly what I needed and it looks good.
