Pushing the limits of what an audio interface can be, TASCAM has launched the FireOne -- a FireWire Audio Interface with shortcut keys and a weighted and illuminated jog wheel to inspire creative interaction with the artist's music. The FireOne is the first stereo audio interface in its class that records 2 mic ins and 2 outs over FireWire at 96kHz/24-bit audio resolution The most unique feature of the unit is its large, weighted, backlit jog wheel, which allows musicians to zip through their song while the backlight provides useful feedback such as a visual metronome.

The FireOne features a pair of mic inputs with phantom power and pad switches. A front panel guitar input allows convenient direct recording of guitar or bass. MIDI input and output are also provided for 16 channels of MIDI. It's the first FireWire interface in its class to record and play at up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution. It includes multi-track recording software, so you'll be set to go right out of the box. In addition to its weighted and backlit jog wheel, the FireOne has transport keys and 8 shortcut keys to control functions in most popular DAW applications.

Sound: nice actually. I was thinking that it would be a great unit to input material and then have loads of issues with sounds output. Volume is a little low but nothing to complain about. My Events8s dont so neither will I Feature: Phantom, 2 hesad phone jacks and that JOG WHEEL! oh my Ease of Use: even if you didn't need it...the job wheel is a nice hand rest. Quality: all night long! Value: could have come in about 20-40 bucks cheaper. or would have paid that much more if there was a 2 additional line ins and another firewire connection (back up) Manufacturer Support: haven't used it The Wow Factor: JOG WHEEL is better than your finger. Overall: I was really impressed with the quality build of the unit. And the jog wheel= Lushish. pro: build, layout, transport buttons, dual headphone jacks cons: think the preamps are a little low on the volume side, 2 more line in/outs. at least Line ins. or firewire port
