Description
From Our Catalog
Smoothness, Adjustability, Stability...
...the concepts that made Iron Cobra the pedal with the "feel that's unreal". With the second generation of Iron Cobra, the feel is even more unreal. These are pedals that can take you to new heights with blinding speed and power that's smoother, quieter, and more sensitive than you ever thought possible. Iron Cobra is the result of our work with numerous drummers in the tireless pursuit of the ultimate pedal.

2007 Iron Cobra models have unique features than ever! All 2007 models boast upgrades and improvements including a new frame structure, improved connecting unit on the double pedals and more! Plus all 2007 pedal base-plates are retrofittable for the new Cobra Coil!

The best selling Iron Cobra of the series, the Power Glide models, feature a double-chained offset cam which increases power and speed as the beater reaches the end of stroke.

Features:

Cobra Pedal Housing
New Iron Cobra pedals come equipped with nylon insulators for the bearing housings inside the pedal frame. The insulators keep the bearings centered in place and secured in the most stable position. This ensures proper bearing support for the drive shaft without unnecessary stress. The end result of these new improvements is the smoothest pedal action possible.

Speedo-Ring
Tama eliminated another source of friction by replacing the traditional nylon rocker cam with the Speedo-Ring, a rocker cam with a high quality built-in ball bearing rocker.

Oiles Bearing Hinge
Iron Cobra footboards feature the same Oiles bearings used in the aerospace industry, not only providing even smoother action and durability than ball bearings, but also increasing Iron Cobra's stability by eliminating the annoying side-to-side motion found in many pedals.

Spring Tight
Twisting springs severely reduce pedal smoothness. Spring Tight, a clever half-moon shaped spring tension rod, keeps the spring from twisting so there's never any loss of power transmission.

Iron Cobra Beater
The Iron Cobra beater adjusts the beater head angle to guarantee a flat hit to the bass drum head every time, translating your strike into maximum power. In addition, it's easy to obtain different bass drum sounds simply by changing the beater head.

Vari-Pitch Holder
Vari-Pitch beater angle adjustments are completely independent of footboard angle. The Speedo-Ring allows you to adjust the angle of the footboard link independently of the beater angle. And with the combination of the Speedo-Ring and the Vari-Pitch, you can achieve any kind of stroke and also enjoy improved playability.

Para-Clamp II
Para-Clamp keeps your pedal flat on the floor no matter what your bass drum angle. The Para-Clamp is tightened from the side so you never have to insert your finger under the footboard. And since you can clamp your pedal to hoops up to 14mm (9/16 in.) in thickness, Iron Cobra will fit just about any bass drum in the market.

Tight Lock
Tight Lock makes sure the beater shaft stays put. Tight Lock fixes and locks the square head bolt which fixes the beater shaft.

Pedal Anchor
To keep left-side double pedals from walking, a special stabilizer is mounted to the outside frame. This augments the stability of the floor anchor bolts.

Quick-Hook
Quick-Hook not only allows rapid spring attachment and reattachment for rapid set up and tear down, it also eliminates wobbling and allows maximum power transmission to the Speedo-Ring. And you never have to worry about it slipping off during performance.

Connecting Rod
A new aluminum twin pedal connecting rod provides lighter weight and smoother action. The connecting bolts are now screwed into a new steel plate instead of directly into the connecting rod for greater durability and much easier and less expensive replacement.

Carrying Case
You know what pedals go through night after night. After being stomped on over and over, they get thrown in bags and roadcases where there's more hard rock and roll than the gig itself. That's why precision instruments like our Iron Cobras come with a specially designed protective carrying case. It's amazing no one thought of it before.
Smooth, quiet chain-drive pedal with offset cam. Includes case.

"Iron Cobra - the best pedal for the best price."
Feature:
Features is where the IC excels. All the settings are easy to change with a tool that's mounted on the pedal itself. Independent footboard adjustment, beater adjustment, easy to adjust springs..it's all there. And the ease which you can disengage the spring is a brilliant move. The beater and footboard adjusters have markings etched in so you can remember what adjustment you set it to. It's hard to explain but when you see it, you'll understand. Finally, there's a foot stop at the top of the pedal board to keep your toe out of the chain. This is great since my foot tends to slide up the pedal board as I play. The hinge for the pedal is smooth and silent. Plus it comes with a case and some small allen wrenches and a weight for the beater. A great package overall and for less than other comparable pedals.

Quality:
Iron Cobras are well known for their reputation of being durable as hell. I have no reason to question this. However, I did buy one before at Guitar Center and the beater holder broke on me! I think it was a bad cast so I don't really hold it against Tama. The new pedal I ordered from Zzounds is top notch, built like a tank, and should last a lifetime.

Value:
In my research, the other comparable pedals were the Pearl Eliminator and the DW 5000. This is, by far, the best deal. It's the cheapest pedal but has the most features and, from what I've read, the most durable.

Desirability:
It has a rugged sexiness that really appeals to me but probably not everyone else. The polished highlights make this a very attractive pedal. Probably the most attractive thing is how smoothly it plays and how easy it is to adjust - I like things that work. And this works great.

Sound:
The Iron Cobra makes no sounds - which is what it's supposed to do. No squeaking or any of that nonsense. As far as hitting a bass drum, well, it does exactly what one expects.

Ease of Use:
The manual is only mildly helpful but it's easy enough to figure out how this pedal works. This is my first "real" pedal and it was pretty easy to figure out. Within an hour of getting it, I had it setup exactly where I wanted it.

Support:
Never used it.

Overall:
Unless this pedal breaks, I'll probably be playing it for most of my life. I love the look, the feel, the simplicity of adjusting it, jsut everything. I had considered modifying it with some Pearl Eliminator parts but, after playing with it, I love it the way it is. The only chance that I'd buy another product is if I decide I want to go with a double kick pedal. In which case I'll be getting an Iron Cobra double. I've played my drum teacher's DW 5000 double and it's nice, although he has it set too light for my tastes. I tried out a DW 9000 and it was the smoothest pedal ever - too smooth. I need some resistance. And the Pearl Eliminator? Well I never did play one and I don't feel the need to, now. I can't imagine a better playing pedal.

Feature:
THE PRODUCT INCLUDED A MULTI-TOOL (TUNING KEY, 2 ALLEN WRENCHES). PLUS IT CAME IN A HARDBACK CARRYING CASE.

Quality:
THIS IS A WELL CRAFTED FOOT PEDAL THAT IS IN MY OPINION TOP OFF THE LINE.

Value:
I THINK FOR THE MONEY ITS WORTH IT.

Desirability:
THE KICK PEDAL IS SLEEK AND SMOOTH. I CAN TELL THE BEARINGS ARE WELL CRAFTED. I THINK IT LOOKS GOOD.

Sound:
THIS KICK PEDAL IS OFF THE CHAIN!!! IT'S FAST AND JUST AS GOOD AND EVEN BETTER THAN THE DW9000. ALSO PRICEWISE, IS FOR THOSE WHO ARE PRICE CONSCIENCE BUT WANT GREAT QUALITY.

Support:
I NEVER CONTACTED THE COMPANY.

Overall:
I WON'T LOOK 4 ANOTHER FOOT PEDAL, UNLESS MY FOOT SPEED OUT GROWS THIS KICK PEDAL.
