The 25-1/2 inch scale will be at once familiar and exciting, not to mention super smooth thanks to the cream neck binding, and is guaranteed to stay wonderfully in tune thanks to its 3-to-a-side chrome Grover tuners.

Climb the Vine
Let's talk pickups. If ever there was an Indiana Jones movie centered around searching for the Holy Grail of Pickups, a set of Seymour Duncans with a JB in the bridge and a '59 in the neck might just be what that snake-fearing adventurist seeks. Those humbuckers deliver everything from vocal-like lead lines, to cutting cleans, to crunchy rhythm workouts with equal aplomb.

We've waited this long to talk about the neck inlay for a reason. Ever hear that saying "Save the best for last"? Well, like the Na'vi, you can now worship your very own Tree of Voices. The C1 Classic features what they call the Vine of Life inlay, and you'll understand why when you see it run from fret 1 all the way down to fret 24. This level of utterly breathtaking inlay work is generally reserved for the most expensive custom one-off boutique instruments, but like the Seymour Duncan pickups and flame Maple top, the Schecter C1 Classic gives them to you in an affordable, attractive package ready to hit any stage or studio.

Overall: I’m pleased with this purchase as you can tell by my review. Again, yes I would replace it a third time if stolen or damaged. I plan to do a lot of home recording using this guitar and gig with it. I’ve gigged and recorded with my old C1 and was pleased with the durability, craftsmanship, and sound it gave me. So I’m very much pleased to have another one to replace it. I plan on pairing it with a Line 6 POD X3 Pro Rackmount Guitar Effects Processor for both home recording and gigging. I cannot think of one thing I don’t like about this guitar…really, which is why I bought it again. You simply cannot beat the new low price it’s like Christmas for those of us on a budget. So…stop reading the reviews and go buy it!

Sound
This is the second C1 Classic I’ve owned. I just bought it from ZZounds a few days ago. My first one I purchased was stolen two years back. Let me say I was extremely upset by the theft of that C1. Now with the price drop on the C1 Classic it was a no-brainer to get another one. Sound: The sound and sustain for the price is almost unheard of today without paying well over a grand on up. With genuine Seymour Duncan pickups (JB & ’59), with tapped coils, a well built body and neck you should have no problems dialing in some excellent tones. She has a sweet thick dark tone that blows your noodle if you play it through a Mesa dual rectifier or a Marshal all tube amp without sounding muddy at all. read more The sustain is just fantastic from the neck through construction. As long as you have a decent rig this guitar is pretty versatile and should help you get that great tone you’re looking for.

Features
Features: This is a sweet looking axe in person. I bought the three-tone sunburst finish, my old one was natural maple quilt top w/all cream binding and three control knobs (now two knobs are standard) which they stop making years ago. It has genuine Seymour Duncan pickups which are excellent, a TONEPROS bridge that locks in so you don’t worry about scratching your finish or readjusting the intonation during string changes and cleaning, a 5 way selector switch with tapped coils, 24 jumbo frets on a maple neck w/rosewood fingerboard. It comes with a quilted maple top on a mahogany body. The 3-tone sunburst finish is fabulous to look at! The Vine of Life neck inlay needs to be seen in person, top notch job and just plain wonderful to look at! The binding around the body is a natural finish while the binding on the neck is cream…not one flaw! (I have a Les Paul with cream/black pinstripe binding that has bleed ticks and small cosmetics mistakes.) This C1 Classic is made in South Korea and whoever Schecter has building them knows what they are doing all the way down to quality control. I couldn’t find one cosmetic flaw on the guitar which is important to me since I like to keep my property in pristine condition. Tuners on mine is a Schecter brand, which my last C1 Classic had Grover’s. The tuners feel strong and sturdy and look like Schaller designed. However after playing for two ours straight not one string out of tune. But then again Schecter use to make hardware for Fender.

Ease of Use
Ease of Use: This is a very playable, versatile, and comfortable guitar. If you can play guitar then you should have no problem adjusting to this one. The neck in my opinion is sort of universal for most hands and style. My hands are small yet I don’t have to fight the guitar’s neck to stretch fingers between frets considering the 25”scale. The neck never feels bulky from fret to fret. Playability in the upper register of the frets is made easy with the deep recess of the body and neck. Knobs and switch (one volume, one tone, and one 5 way selector) are easy to locate without looking down for them. I don’t miss the third volume knob from the earlier C1 Classic.

Quality
Quality: Construction, parts, and finished on the C1 Classic is top notch. This is how you build a guitar, and sell a guitar without taking food off a musician’s table! As I stated before the finish is flawless, the parts are top-shelf, and it plays and feels great. Built solid and though I dread getting dings and scratches on it, the guitar feels like it could take a road beating and still kick @ss at the gig. My old C1 held up fine for the five years I had it. No scratchy pots, no pops or shorts with the 5 way selector switch. No neck issues, no buzzing frets, no nothing… Hands down this is one well made guitar that should put Fender and Gibson to shame at this price. Don’t get me wrong I grew up learning and playing on USA made Gibson’s and Fender’s guitars but some of these overseas made guitars are competing very well in terms of quality made guitars for the discriminating American guitar players. On last thing on quality…these guitars are set up in the US Schecter shop before going to retailers. Mine was set up PERFECT right out of the box!! String height, intonation all set up with no adjusting needed on my part. Heck! It was barely out of tune when I pulled it out the box and started to strum. Now that’s how you deliver a guitar! This is not just another pretty guitar it’s a pretty well built guitar first and foremost. Kudos to the quality control Schecter obviously employs to its South Korea manufacturer.

Value
Value: No brainer! The guitar gods have heard those of you wanting a quality made guitar without the super price tag. Nothing and I mean nothing on this guitar feels or sounds cheap. If you can get over that it’s made in South Korea and not in the US then you have freed your mind and released excellent musical possibilities without draining your hard earned coins by buying this fine made guitar.

Manufacturer Support
Support: Never needed them during the time of owning my old C1 Classic for 5 years. Hope I don’t have to with this new one either. Good sign if you cannot give this section a score!

The Wow Factor
“I want it”: Oh yeah, I own it. She is one sexy beast that is great on the eyes and sweet on the ears. To me this is one of those guitars that you want to pick it up and play it every time you see it. When I first saw this guitar in 2001 it was love at first sight. I didn’t know how well it would play, let alone how well it was built. Taking a chance I bought it online without going to an establishment for actual hands on. (Though I did check online for reviews before purchasing it.) Best gamble I ever took a chance on.
