The Sterling by Music Man John Petrucci Signature JP160 Electric Guitar offers superior, sleek shredder performance that's build for speed. This SBMM model is based on the Ernie Ball Music Man JP16.

JP160 features a gorgeous Roasted Maple neck. The Roasted Maple neck undergoes a very specialized kiln drying process which involves heating the wood to a specific temperature, or "Roasting" it, as the name implies. This removes excess moisture from the wood, which makes it stronger, more stable, lighter in weight, and, less susceptible to humidity changes. It also gives the player one of the most amazing feels in a neck. Topping the Roasted Maple neck is a 16" radius, 24 fret Rosewood fretboard "Shield" style inlays adorn the neck, as well as John's signature "JP Shield" logo, which is inlaid at the first fret.

Ergonomically arranged in-line controls include a 3 position pickup selector, Volume, and Tone VR controls. Additionally, JP160 features an Active "push-push" 12dB circuit boost on the Volume control, allowing the player ultimate soloing power at their fingertips. This Active Circuit is powered by a 9V battery that loads into an easily accessed compartment on the rear of the instrument, and requires no tools, making battery changes user friendly and quick.

Accurate intonation, smooth operation and excellent tuning stability come courtesy of the combination of the newly designed Sterling by Music Man Double-Locking "Low Profile" Tremolo. Fans of John's playing who read more have been preferential to a Double Locking Tremolo will find JP160 to be the answer to years of requests! This premium, full floating tremolo system is only available on the JP160 John Petrucci Signature Series instruments, and allows for full dives, 2 step pulls, and is exceptionally responsive to flutter effects, all while maintaining accurate tuning. Tuning machines are arranged in the classic Music Man 4+2 manner on the headstock. Johns' signature is also proudly featured on the face of the headstock.

The Sterling By Music Man JP160 is without equal in its price point, and is truly a shredder's dream machine.

I just got it today, a scratch and dent model and it only had a small chip near the tremolo. It's brand new otherwise and is a great deal. I only need to do a slight truss rod adjustment, it was almost in tune considering the cold air from shipping I was surprised. Pickups aren't bad at all. I'm playing through a Headrush gigboard and it it sounds very smooth, every tone I've played sounds great. The 12db booster is excellent. Even through an old school fuzz pedal, it sounds killer. The neck is very easy to adjust to, I find it easier playing this guitar than some others, the frets are flawless. Mine didn't have a single buzz anywhere. For me that's a first. I most certainly recommend this guitar if your looking to try a new brand. I would buy this guitar again as well. I used to own a PRS 7 string and I like the Sterling more.
