The cozy three-piece maple neck provides your fingers a silky playability, and the iconic Steinberger headless design and strap hook balances your Synapse XS1FPA in the perfect position for maximum comfort. If you're tired of traditional electric basses and are looking for something a little different, you've come to the right place.

Thinking Outside of the Box

Your Steinberger Synapse is a hybrid instrument that combines the sonic articulation and robust design of graphite along with the warmth and inviting resonance of maple. Ned Steinberger's famous headless design and skillfully placed strap hook provide a comfortable and balanced feel you'll instantly notice when you shoulder this bass for the first time.

Warm and Clear EMG Tone

Housed in the middle position of your Steinberger Synapse's maple body is a clear and punchy EMG 40P humbucker. This pickup is a low-impedance active humbucker primed to capture your performance in all of its character and nuance. Controls include a master volume dial, an active high cut/boost dial, and an active low cut/boost dial. You also have a mag/piezo pickup blend control that allows you to adjust the output between your higher and lower read more notes.

Ultra-Stable Cybrosonic Neck

Sporting the Steinberger patented graphite U-channel and adjustable truss rod is your Synapse's three-piece hard maple neck. This appendage's phenolic fingerboard features 24 medium jumbo frets and a set-neck joint for an overall smoother transfer of sound. Aside from offering an intriguing atypical look, the headless tuning system provides tonal stability that you won't be able to find with any other manufacturer on the market.

Reverse Styled Tuning

Most guitars feature a tuning system with tuning pegs located on the headstock. Your headstock-less Synapse XS1FPA flips things round with an anchoring system at the top of the neck and machine heads at the bottom just below the bridge. Each machine head slides a jaw that the strings are hooked to toward or away from the bridge, loosening or tightening each string. This makes changing strings easier and faster, and, since you aren't wrapping strings around a tuning peg, you end up dealing with less string stretching, settling, and other annoying intonation issues.

Steinberger Synapse XS1FPA Electric Bass

Steinberger has long been famous for designing the most comfortable and balanced basses the world has ever seen and the Synapse bass is no different. Designed by Ned Steinberger, the Synapse bass guitar is a HYBRID instrument combining the strength, rigidity and clarity of graphite with the warmth and beauty of wood. At the heart of every Synapse is the Cybrosonic neck featuring the patented graphite U-channel with adjustable truss rod uniquely crafted into a 3-piece, hard maple neck. Steinberger then adds a smooth and durable phenolic fingerboard and a glued-in body design to create an instrument with distinctive tonal clarity, sustain, "pop" and response as well as ultimate stability!

One low-impedance, active EMG USA bass humbucker mounted at the "sweetspot" combined with an internal low-impedance preamp and a stereo piezo bridge extends the range on both ends for earth-moving lows and phenomenal transients from slap-style playing. Internal trim pots allow you to adjust the balance of the piezo output between the high and low strings if needed. It is equipped with a Rosewood saddle for warm, pure tone.

Other features include a Combo headpiece that accommodates DoubleBall and single-ball strings, the patented 40:1 ratio, direct-drive double ball bridge for super-fast string changes and rock-solid tuning stability. With it's headless design and innovative "Strap Hook", the Synapse bass balances perfectly and positions the bass in the ideal playing position when standing. The fold-down leg rest accommodates performance while seated as well.

Provided with a premium, padded gig bag, the Synapse's headless design is compact and capable of fitting into tight places including most overhead airplane bins. Put it all together and you've got a bass of un-equalled performance, comfort and flexibility. Steinberger -- State of the Instrument.

I have owned many, many basses, vintage, modern, U.S. made and imported, I owned an original NYC Steinberger from the 80's at one point. I bought this as a travel bass so it spends a fair amount of time in the trunk of my car. Overall the bass plays great, finish looks good, electronics/pickups sound good. Neck is extremely stable even when kept in the trunk for a while. I hardly ever have to tune it regardless of temperature which to me is worth the price of admission. The hook really makes it balance perfectly. It's interesting that this bass weighs about as much as a full size body bass, but it is not uncomfortable at all and it not overly heavy. Tons of sustain, great fret work. I really like this bass more than I thought I would. The gig bag is a bit cheap but overall this is a very well made bass considering the price tag. I love it.
