The SCOM Plus adds a De-Esser (with Level control and meter) to decrease unwanted sibilance and a dedicated Limiter, with a separate Threshold control and Peak LED, to ensure that signal levels will not clip the inputs of your digital recorder or power amp.

The Enhancer function on the SCom Plus is switchable in/out. The Enhancer is fully adjustable and puts the "air" back into compressed material. The SCOM Plus also features both XLR and servo balanced Õ in. I/O connectors, +4/-10 input level switches, "Key Listen" for external triggering, and Gain Reduction and Input/Output level meters.

The Samson SCOM is a dual-channel, signal rack space Expander/Gate, Compressor/Limiter, and Enhancer designed to reduce noise, increase loudness, prevent clipping, and recover high frequencies that might get lost during heavy compression. The Expander/Gate section features a variable Threshold control, a Fast/Slow switch for setting release times, and Open/Closed LEDs for precise monitoring of the gate's operation. The Compressor/Limiter controls include Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, Output, and a switchable "Auto" function (attack and release times can be set manually or automatically). The Enhancer is fully adjustable and puts the "air" back into compressed material. The SCOM also features both XLR and servo balanced Õ in. I/O connectors, +4/-10 input level switches, "Key Listen" for external triggering, and Gain Reduction and Input/Output level meters. zZounds is an authorized dealer of Samson products.

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Not huge, not small, not a lie, not the truth, but just right for a demo studio to do right. Nice for the price."

Sound: Sounds good, but I have worked with much better. But for the price it does what it should and nothing more. If record levels where to hot on some instrment (Like the Bass) when tracking with out compression, latter compression may create a click. However, this can be avoied by paying attentiton to level setting. It was just a warning. I found this product to be some what touchy in this respect. It will click with some instraments and not with others. Over all, it's a nice unit for a very low price. It has all the trimings. Good for project studio use, but not a pro level sound. Feature: What can you say, it is a standard unit. It does has an auto attack/release that can be useful in live work. The gate is very nice, and smooth, may be it's best nob. Quality: Very strong build. It could take some pounding. Good for live work, or project studios. Value: For the price this is a very good unit. If I were you I would have at least one in the rack to play with. The Wow Factor: It looks great. It has flashing lights and looks nice. Overall: I like it enough to have one in the rack at all times. I am not sure if I would get lots of them. It's best use is found in the Gate. It controls leakage very well. Great on drums.
