"Roland XP-30 review - A treasure to own !!"

Feature:
The most useful features on this synth are the presence of so many, many sounds. That is the main reason I bought it. Also, the synthesizer capability is a main reason. I like to have control over sounds, like to adjust them to my needs, and then store them in a user memory. The possibility of connection a pc with the To Host cable is a fantastic function! Many manufacturers seem to be developing this Keyboard-PC interface function, and would very much encourage their efforts. The least useful thing would be the Memory Card; if I play live, I make sure I store my sounds in a user memory, and for all other playing situations I use my computer. There is actually nothing more I can wish for on this synth... It's so complete!

Quality:
The product is made of good material, doesn't feel cheap, has a solid look and feel. They have sliders instead of knobs which in my opinion are better because knobs may easily break off while turning them. Rolands always have been very reliable, and are excellent choices for playing live, at home, or in a studio. It seems this baby will surely last a 15 years if properly handled.

Value:
This product gives you the most value for your money. The most sounds, expandable functionality, PC connection, etc. Everything about this is worth it.

Desirability:
I is a fantastic product to own, not only for it's professional look and feel, but mainly for the endless sea of available sounds.

Sound:
I think the sound has a professional touch with many elements from the JV-1080 and JV-2080 modules. The sound quality is very good. It has a lot of usable sounds that can be used in all sorts of music styles. The sound responds really good when playing. Many sounds are good usable in writing my songs. Because of their large quantity I often use the Patch Category Finder to quickly find a specific sound. Sounds are very well adjustable. It's a synthesizer ! It has a lot of options to adjust sounds that can be achieved by scrolling through the menus. It is a good thing that they have the assignable sliders to immediately adjust a sound while playing live for example, and it is also possible to save your customed sound in a user memory. All these things are so practical. Really a must in today's versatile music instruments.

Support:
I haven't had to deal with Roland's customer support, so no comment about that. I rate them a 6. Not bad, not good.

Overall:
I expect to be satisfied at least 5 years with it. For now I can discover the many sounds and fiddle with them. It is a great thing that it can be expanded with 2 expansionboards. A thing that will keep it fun for a long time.

Roland XP30 64-Voice Expandable Synthesizer Customer Review

I just buy it last week. It has very good feature. The keys are great. my only problem is i'm not good in technicalities because this is my first time to have a keyboard synthesizer but I played some. Like Yamaha and Technics. For just a week I can do what i want not like the other keyboards maybe because this is my first time playing a great keyboard. One problem is the user manual. I think the manual is for advance user. I can manage some of it but I really need help for those who are experienced.

About This Product!
Description
The XP30 ranks extremely high on the sounds-for-your-dollar chart. Amazing sounds are really what this little beauty is all about. With the XP30 you've got the exact same sound set as on the renowned XP80 workstation, plus all the waveforms from the Session, Techno, and Orchestral expansion boards. That's over 1,400 sounds at your disposal with 64-voice polyphony! Somebody figured that might not be enough sounds for you, so they added a couple of expansion slots so you could add even more. (If you shop around, you'll find that many keyboards in this price range are not expandableÖwhat you buy is all you get!)

And we're not just talking run-of-the-mill stuff hereÖdial up "Raggatronic," for example and be transported into the arpeggiating Future Sound of India! Speaking of arpeggiators, the XP30 has one that's derived from the amazing arpeggiator on the XP80. Four assignable sliders for realtime control of patch parameters, MIDI, 40 excellent effects, and Patch Finder and Phrase Preview functions round out this 61-key powerhouse. If you're an electronic musician of any level and you need a keyboard with great sounds for live performance or as the main controller/sound module for a MIDI studio, this is an excellent and affordable choice.

If you're willing to sacrifice aftertouch, expandability and a lot of sounds, you can save around 50% with the Roland XP10. However, the XP30 is a keyboard that won't be quickly outgrown, if ever. And we think it is the better value of the 2. If you need a sequencer onboard, check out the XP60 or XP80, but if you just want tons of XP sounds at a great price, look no further.
