Intuitive to Use, Quick to Set Up

Thanks to its smart interface, the VR-09 V-Combo is easy to use and quick to set up and play. On the front panel, a large, clear LCD screen and big knob for scrolling through parameters provide instant access to the piano, organ, and synth sound engines. The other sections -- D-Beam, EFX, and Drum -- that lie on either side of the display feature hands-on controls that are pretty much self explanatory. Adjust the real-time, expressive controls as you play, and you'll have the keyboard figured out in no read more time.

A single twist of a knob is all it takes to shape your sound with seven simultaneous effects, including rotary, delay, reverb, tone, overdrive, compressor, and customizable MFX. When you've got all your settings in place, save them in the VR-09 V-Combo's user settings for instant recall during a performance.

The option to run the keyboard on AC or battery power makes it even more mobile and convenient.

Rich Acoustic and Electric Pianos

Every keyboard needs some quality piano sounds, and the VR-09 V-Combo doesn't disappoint. Roland's stereo multisampling technology ensures that every note on the 61-key performance keyboard sounds as rich and vibrant as an acoustic grand piano, when in grand piano mode. When your music calls for something else, perhaps a jazzy type of piano, you can play a number of popular vintage electric piano sounds as well, along with cool effects such as vintage phaser and tremolo. Using the "big knob" you can apply the compressor to the piano sounds and ensure that your piano comes through loud and clear over even the noisiest drums and guitars.

Fully Stocked Organ Section

Roland's SuperNATURAL technology drives the instrument's classic tonewheel organs, ensuring that they sound just as awesome as their piano counterparts. Nine harmonic bars (sliders) make it easy to control your performance in real time, while the keyboard's sensitivity and quick response let you play with trills, glissando, percussive hits, sputters, and other classic organ techniques.

In addition, the VR-09 V-Combo features a transistor-type organ with a 1960s vibe, plus rotary speaker and amp simulators that recreate the characteristics of vintage organ speaker cabinets and overdriven tube circuits. A "Twin Rotary" option lends your organ tone a deep, aggressive effect for in-your-face organ playing.

Synth Tones from Vintage to Modern

Switch to the synth side of the keyboard and you'll tap in to sounds from vintage analog synthesizers, adding '80s synth brass, modern digital sounds, Juno strings, and more to your performance. All synth tones are fully editable in real time, of course, via the front-panel controllers, and ADR and cutoff/resonance can be adjusted via the sliders in the Organ block. You can also use effects such as "Bit Crash" to generate dubstep-ready modern synth voices.

Edit Sounds on Your iPad

Roland's free VR-09 Editor app for iPad provides even more control options to iPad-toting keyboardists, on stage and off. The app gives you extra control of the organ and synth sound engines, allowing you to edit organ sounds, customize vintage tonewheel characteristics, and access synth sounds to build custom tones and layers. You can go wireless and set up the VR-09 V-Combo and iPad with Roland Wireless Connect, or you can link up with a USB cable via Apple's iPad Camera Connection Kit.

Roland's renowned SuperNATURAL technology powers the V-Combo VR-09's classic tonewheel organs, while nine harmonic bars provide authentic real-time performance control. A recently developed transistor-type organ is also included, offering the unique sound of combo instruments from the 1960s. The 61-note keyboard has an extremely fast response, perfect for essential organ techniques such as trill, sputter, glissando, and percussive hits. Rotary speaker and amp simulators reproduce the characteristics of vintage organ speaker cabinets and overdriven tube circuits with astounding realism, while a "Twin Rotary" option delivers a deep, aggressive effect never before heard.

Vintage and Modern Synth Tones

If you need to be able to switch from organ to synth to piano all in one keyboard without having to deal with files and pages, this is the board to get. In my humble opinion the Hammond/leslie sounds are the best I've heard....and all without having to haul a 500 pound B3 around.

Musical Background:

Been playing since God had brown hair.....
