The Roland Studio Package Pro gives musicians everything they need to record and mix music on a Mac or PC. It includes a hardware control surface with eight 24-bit/96kHz audio inputs and outputs (SI-24), a PCI audio card (RPC-1), and powerful Logic RPC PRO sequencing and recording software from Emagic. This unbeatable combination makes it possible to record and mix music on a computer, but with the added convenience of a real hardware mixer capable of controlling many of Logic's functions. And it's surprisingly affordable, so there's never been a better time to enter the world of computer-based recording.
24-bit/96kHz Recording with Hardware Control
Thanks to the new SI-24 Studio Interface, Studio Package Pro users can record up to eight tracks of 24-bit audio simultaneously into a Mac or PC. Not just a mixing surface, but a high-quality audio interface, the SI-24 is equipped with eight XLR Mic inputs (switchable to TRS inputs), plus a Hi-Z input for recording guitar. All of these inputs are sent to the computer via a single R-BUS cable, which connects to the supplied RPC-1 R-BUS Interface Card. And with 13 motorized faders, recording and mixing has never been more intuitive.

Emagic's Logic series has earned a reputation as one of the best sequencing and recording programs for Mac or PC. The Studio Package Pro now includes Logic RPC Pro, an even more powerful version of this special edition software. Aside from 24 tracks of 24-bit/96kHz recording, Logic RPC Pro includes 5.1 surround mixing, level and pan automation, Emagic plug-ins and access to VST plug-ins. Using the SI-24, you can control many of Logic's mixer functions?including track level and panning, EQ, send levels and plug-in parameters?using real faders and knobs. Feature:
The Hi-Z input is great for recording Bass directly in to the recorder. You can process things afterward with the software effects which are quite good for the price. The control interface operates really well. It makes recording takes and mixes fast and efficient.
Quality:
The equipment seems well built. The control interface is attractive and sturdy. The buttons and sliders are well made.
Value:
I don't think there is a better piece of recording equipment with the same features and quality for the money.
Desirability:
I don't think there is a lot of appeal in recording equipment. It should work, sound good, and not break. It does all of this and still looks pretty cool.
Sound:
You get exactly the sound you put into it. Clear and precise.
Support:
I was only sent a license for the Mac version of the software. I needed the PC version. The program is supposed to work with both. I finally registered the software and received a license after contacting e-magic tech support. They were pretty fast and helpful, but both licenses should have been included in the first place.
Overall:
I really like the sound quality and the level of integration between the software and hardware. The thing just works and is really intuitive once you get the hang of the software. The learning curve on the software is the only real drawback. If you are willing to put some time in to learning the software I don't think you will be disappointed.

This is a great starter system. It has all the tools you need to start with and more. Automation works great and it has set up for 5.1 surround mixing which is awesome. The plugins are good and eay to use.
Quality:
So far all is working well, the faders I worry about, but only time will tell about them.

Great price at this time. I have been through many differnt setups for recording and this on worked great out of the box.
Desirability:
I have been working to build a small home project studio for sometime. I have had many setups. I always had a problem getting gear to work with each other and it always set me back as far as being productive. Plus I always was wanting to ass more gear to get more features I could use. With this it had all I needed.
Sound:
The sound is clean and pure. Ofcourse it can be only as good as what you put into it.
Support:
Havent had any need for support. But from what I can tell by reading about other users it is good.
Overall:
I dont see a need for replacing this gear for a while. For a home project Studio it is perfect. I have had other way more expensive units(VS series) and the learing curve and interface I never likes. This gives you great hands on mixing with automation, plugins and editing and with the Logic Audio software, it had a great PC interface for ease of use.
