A High Quality Monitor for Professional Mixing Environments
The DS-8/-7/-5 are Roland's flagship two-way active digital reference monitors, offering superb sound quality with precise imaging and low coloration. They are ideally suited for critical listening in professional, project and home studios, fixed and mobile broadcast facilities or any other recording environment where professional sound quality and accuracy are essential during playback.

Accurate Monitoring For A True Mix
Each of the DS-Series monitors exhibit excellent stereo imaging and a consistent flat frequency response in near field listening environments. The 24-bit, up to 192 kHz digital specification produces a smooth response for less chance of ear fatigue during extended critical listening sessions. The result is a rich sound field with a desirable fully-spatial characteristic.

Perfect Partners
There are three DS-Series models, designed to fit into a variety of recording environments, from project to professional studios. The DS-5 is a 45-watt, 5-inch two-way system; the DS-7 is a 60-watt 6.5-inch two-way system; and the DS-8 is a 120-watt, 8-inch two-way system. Each model features XLR inputs for AES/EBU compatibility and digital jacks for integration into digital recording and workstation environments such as Roland's VS Series Digital Workstations.

Efficient Power with a New Cabinet Design
The DS-Series' efficient heat sink power amplifier is fully compatible with new IEC60065 safety standards. The power switch is built into the front panel for optimum convenience. A newly designed shielded cabinet helps eliminate interference in TV, radio and other recording environments where speakers are placed in close proximity to video monitors and computer screens.

"DS-7 Review"
Feature:
I absolutely love the front panel LED lights and power switch. For my application where I prefer not to turn off my Monster power center every thing, this is really great to have in a tight place. Also the Digital connectivity that I have not used is very nice. Allows you to get the full DS-7 sound without your converter getting in the way.

Quality:
As far as quality goes, I would have to say it is the best! I love the fact that they actually use real wood cabinets. The driver quality is also very very good. Its well thought out, and a great design. It looks very attractive which means allot to me and is a big part of the process of how I select my studio gear.

Value:
As I mentioned before, it is the best value for the money on the market. I got them from a friend of mine and even retail they are by far the best I have heard for the money.

Desirability:
They look awesome. Just this great studio appearance and not too big.

Sound:
I have the DS-7's in my home studio and I have discovered that I can get better mixes in my room (which is acousitcly treated with custom built bass traps, and broadband absorption) than in a perfectly treated commercial facility with an RME converter and Event 20/20's. Now dont get me wrong, the Event's are great monitors that sound really clean and full resolution, but the DS-7's just yield this beautiful round sound that is accurate to your mix and points out the mistakes in your mix allowing you to quickly repair them. Im using them with analog inputs from an Edirol FA-101 and although the Edirol is not a top end converter I can mix very nice and full analog sounding mixes like second nature without having to think of the process. Absolutely the BEST for its price range. And very very smooth but accurate HF drivers, nice to mix with.

Ease of Use:
Its really easy to use. If your using them in the right environment, which is a studio, they're just plug and play.

Support:
I never had to use them, but Roland has a great reputation for their tech support.

Overall:
Absolutely love my DS-7. In fact im keeping these bad boys til i move to a larger room where I will have all my rack gear, and even then I will use them as a second source because I trust them. Only thing that most people consider bad about them is their fre. responce goes down to 68 Hz. I don't consider this bad, because I prefer having a dedicated driver for my low end which gives me a better Idea of whats really going on down there without having to change sources or to go in my car and figure out that the bass has this horrible low end buildup which I wasn't hearing before.
