The Planet Waves Circuit Breaker(R) plug has fail-safe operation to save your equipment from loud pops and squeals when you change guitars with a live amp. When the button is pushed, the cable shorts while remaining plugged into your guitar, making on-stage guitar changes a snap, and eliminating any chance of sound bursts. Once the cable is shorted, remove the cable from the guitar being used and plug the cable into the next instrument. Press the button again to re-activate the cable signal.

Many shorting plugs include springs that disconnect the signal after removing the plug from the guitar. These springs can wear over time resulting in malfunction and possibly damage to your equipment. Planet Waves Circuit Breaker Instrument Cable will save your equipment from loud pops and squeals while changing guitars with a live amp. When the button is pushed, the cable shorts while remaining plugged in your guitar, making on-stage guitar changes a snap, and eliminating any chance of sound bursts. Plus, since the cable can be shorted without removing the plug from your instrument you can also use the cable to prevent unwanted noise or feedback during breaks from playing.

Once the cable is shorted, remove the cable from the guitar being used and plug the cable into the next instrument. Press the button again to re-activate the cable signal. It's that easy!!!

Sound: Very clean signal, good harmonic balance across the spectrum, even in the low frequencies from my bass guitar. The gold-plated connectors really do help with accurately transmitting signal. Feature: The circuit breaker is very handy at live shows, or really any situation where you're switching between instruments. It's noiseless when activated, and as long as you're not playing, there are no pops or signal spikes when deactivated. The cable fits snugly in the jack thanks to the compression strings and it never rattles, and resists accidental tugs. It takes more force to extract than low-grade cables, but not to an extreme degree. The cable itself is quite stiff, so be sure to wrap it properly after every use to avoid warps and bends developing. Ease of Use: Plug and play, like any cable. It takes a little while to become familiar with it to the point where you can feel the position of the button (up = no sound, down = sound) and immediately know whether the breaker is on or off, but it's otherwise a perfectly straightforward device. Quality: The cable feels sturdy enough, though it could be a little thicker. Again, it's not as supple as other cables, so it can develop kinks if not properly wrapped. But by the same token, you can work the kinks out a bit easier than with other cables. The plugs and body shells are solidly assembled and have a good weight to them. The plastic cable tie doesn't glide as smoothly as I would have liked to quickly change its position, but that could be a benefit since it doesn't move on its own. Value: The price may be steep to those used to buying standard-grade cables, but considering the sound quality, the rugged construction, the circuit breaker and the fact it comes with a lifetime warranty, it's a quality investment. Manufacturer Support: I haven't had to contact support, so I can't say. The Wow Factor: The body shells are nifty-looking, certainly unique, and the circuit breaker is a conversation piece with fellow musicians. But its practical function easily outshines its aesthetic appeal. Overall: I haven't found this product to be lacking in any areas, so I don't see myself seeking out a replacement anytime soon. It's a better value than Monster, in my opinion, since they boast similar high-quality features (gold-plated connectors, sturdy construction, low-noise design, etc.) except the circuit breaker component, yet Monster cables cost more. And to be honest, I don't trust any cable that manipulates the frequencies it transmits to serve a niche function (like Monster's line of instrument-specific cables like rock guitar, bass, keyboard, etc.) That merely downgrades its versatility, and is something that should be left to the mixing engineer.

"Best Cable for the lot."
Sound: Perfect sound reproduction. No unwanted distortion, hum, or decible loss. Stays put if yanked on. Also, mad props on it being soderless easy to fix for an idiot like me if it shorts out. Which every cable i have eventually did and this one is the only one that when it happened I just cut 1/4" off the end a reconnected the end and volia it worked again. Feature: Can't remember if the breaker is on or off when I first plug in to my head. Ease of Use: LIke I said fixing a short was a breeze. Quality: My cost a little extra, but you won't ever need another cable again even if it shorts. Value: Like I said may be pricy, but given you'll have to buy another cable in the long run you will save. Manufacturer Support: Actually, I never had to use it. Must mean something there. The Wow Factor: Looks don't matter. Only sound and consturction matter in my book, but it is still pretty anyway. Overall: Last cables I'll ever own. I go out of my way to get these cause it just works. "Nuff said.
