Feature:
Really wish the gate was more tunable. But hey! what do ya want for $900????
Quality:
With all of the cabeling that I leave plugged into the back of the unit there is quite a bit of strain on the chassis. I would like to see a bit more robust connection to the faceplate so that it flexes a bit less. I just bolted my wiring harnesses to the side of the rack itslef and that took care of this though. I have had no pproblems with mine after touring with it for over 3 years.
Value:
Hands down, the best bang for the buck in a small compact package for any live sound enginees. Works fairly well in the studio but not my first choice as a dynamics processor for critical studio work but still very good.
Sound:
I use this unit in my touring rack. It has alot of bang for the buck in a very small package. Sonically the compressor is amazing (for an 8 channel unit). I have actually used it on a lead vocal in an arena on a national tour when my main vocal comp crapped out....I was not disappointed at all. The gate while being a bit limited in controls works surprisingly well. It opens a bit harder than some of the others that I have used but for live hard rock music is acceptable. Overall I can say that getting 8 channels or pretty damn good comps, eight channels of passable gates all in two rack spaces for money you simply cannot top this unit. I have even used it in the studio to mix a couple of Nationally released CD's. This unit is a huge space saver for any live engineer.
