The Martin DX1AE acoustic-electric guitar is a solid-top dreadnought with excellent Fishman Sonitone electronics built right in, and a low oval neck shape -- found by many players to be more comfortable for more chordal styles of playing. The fit and finish are as elegant as any of Martin's other fine guitars, and the DX1AE comes in at a lower price than many of Martin's other models, without sacrificing quality.

A Nod to the Legendary D-14

The body follows the shape of Martin's famous D-14 with a solid sitka spruce top and laminate sides with a rosewood finish. The rust-colored Stratabond neck is shaped in a comfortable "low oval" shape that many players agree accommodates complex chordal playing more comfortably. It is set in the body with a mortise-and-tenon neck joint that imparts serious sustain and solidity of construction that you can really feel in your hands. The sound of the guitar is strong and clear, offering a bright top voice with lots of snap.

The neck measures out with a scale length of 25.4 inches, with 14 clear frets and 20 total. The fingerboard measures 1-11/16 inches at the nut and 2-1/8 inches at the 12th fret. The fingerboard is black Richlite, with a great feel and grip.

I recently bought a Martin DX1AE acoustic electric guitar from zzounds.com. It came in only four days, and was even better than I hoped. Sounds incredible, and plays like a dream! I am very pleased with this guitar and find that it sounds as good as my best friends 1972 D-28 which costs five times more than mine. Get one for yourself, you wii be stunned by the sound you get for the price !

Musical Style:

Play with friends and at home for fun. Started playing in 1967, so over 40 years now. Mostly classic, rock, folk and folk roc
