From Our Catalog
The Delta 1010 stands at the forefront of digital audio's evolution, making available a level of performance previously unattainable. Unrivaled in its integrity, the Delta 1010 shores up what used to be the Achilles' heel of any computer-based system: the transfer and conversion of audio between the outside world and the computer. With 24-bit 96kHz bandwidth and expansive flexibility, the Delta 1010 boasts 8 balanced or unbalanced analog I/Os, S/PDIF I/O, Word Clock I/O, and MIDI I/O to guarantee connectivity in any installation. To ensure that your audio is not compromised by your computer's internal noise, the Delta 1010's converters reside in a rock-solid, external, rack-mountable chassis. The power transformer is even located outside of the chassis to further secure the absolute transparency of your audio.

"Great Addition to the Home Studio"
Feature:
Its lack of control features is great since they are not needed. Plug your amplified signals right in. I use a small, cheap Yamaha mixer for all monitoring and Cakewalk Home Studio playback (Delta 1010 1/2 outs to Yamaha and all other mixing boards or inputs go there as well, send it all to a headphone amp, no latetency problems at all).

Quality:
Rock solid. No excessive heat. Accidentally dropped it and I guess I got lucky cause nothing happened to it.

Value:
Very good. I only gave it a 9 because I'm waiting for their next generation products that will no doubt be even better!

Desirability:
Must have for my setup, recording four piece band.

Sound:
Without question the Delta 1010 provides a clean and true A/D conversion. Upgraded my setup with an Allen and Heath mixer for its good preamps and this was worth the cost, but then again this adds quite a bit to the total cost to upgrade to the 1010. The Allen and Heath is perfect for the 1010 becuase its preamp direct outs go right to the 1010. Like others I'm probably going to add another 1010 to take advantage of all 16 preamps on the mixer. For vocals using a Focusrite preamp, works excellent as well.

Ease of Use:
Nothing to it. The included M-Audio program allows you to control the volume of your studio monitors.

Support:
Not used.

Overall:
If it broke I would go buy another one right away!

"This is an excellent product!"
Feature:
All the features I need. Optical digital I/O would be great, but the coaxial digital has worked flawlessly for me.

Quality:
My Delta 1010 was one of the early models and I've twice had issues with burned-out capacitors that result in a nasty buzz. They've since fixed these issues. It's otherwise totally rock-solid. If you get a newer one, you shouldn't have any issues.

Value:
The Delta 1010's only competitor in this price range is the Layla 24 which I'm told is also excellent. You get all of the same features in the Delta 1010 (Minus optical digital I/O) for about $100 less.

Desirability:
I don't buy electronics for "sex appeal" That sounds way kinky . Since it would be kind of difficult to strap one of these on and play a gig with it, I couldn't care less what it looks like. The Delta 1010 is the heart and the backbone of my DAW rig.

Sound:
Excellent. Transparent sound quality. Outstanding A/D converters. My studio rig consists of: 1.5 Ghz Pentium 4, 768 MB RAM, Windows 2000, Sonar 2.2, Cool Edit, Sound Forge, CD Architect, Wavelab. Mackie SR24-4 console, Yamaha NS-10M monitors. AKG C100S, C300B. Shure SM-57, SM-58.

Support:
Outstanding support. When I spoke with the tech at M-Audio, he knew what the problem was immediately and gave me an RMA with no hassles. I got it back within two weeks and it was as good as new. Worked great for about three years. During this time, I've moved to the LA area. The second time I had the problem, I was able to drive it up to M-Audio and they had it fixed within an hour and I was on my way home. Works great now.

Overall:
I'll keep on using my Delta 1010 as long as possible. I can't conceive of it becoming obsolete anytime in the near future. The only way I could think of supplementing my setup would be to buy another one so I could have 16 analog I/O's, but that's really more than I need.
