Read lots about it, didn't see any where I live. Rolled the dice and won! Sounds great through headphones, home stereo and killer through a guitar amp. I highly recommend running it through the "return" only in the effects loop. Guitar to POD "in"; POD "out" to effects loop "return" It bypasses amplifier pre-amp section and takes over amp. Now run your amp through the POD. SMOKIN'!
Tons of features; 2.0 version offers extra features the original could only access through a MIDI connection, like extra amplifiers and cabinet sims. Easy to use, minimal instruction manual diving!
Only dislike: Chorus seems a little muddy. The effects are mostly sims of stomp boxes, the same ones I stopped buying because they seemed "muddy." However, like any effect, it's all a matter of personal taste. I see the same real-life pedals on pro stages everywhere.
I purchased my POD 2.0 as a replacement for a Yamaha FX500 I bought ten years ago. The Yamaha was my "do everything" effects box, minus distortion. I have a Lee Jackson modified Ampeg VL-502 head and a VL-503 combo amp that serve as my workhorse amps, the POD now takes on the distortion role as well. I mention this because these tube amps ROAR on their own; this should clue you in on the quality of the POD distorion models.
What I really enjoy is the ability to play a distorted Stratocaster through a stack and have it sound like real musician's rack. Sadly, the Strat straight through the tube head on distortion sounded pretty bad. I've fiddled with different eq settings over the years and was never happy. The POD makes the Strat sound like a million dollars. The Strat retains its identity with POD, unlike a you-pick-the-brand distortion pedal.
Using the POD onstage requires planning ahead, unless you purchase the $250 foot controller! However, programming the POD is easy and you can make your own settings and assign them to the two main knobs. Again, it's designed mostly as a recording tool, but has shown to be very flexible as an "all-trades" device. Cash-strapped players can feel great about buying the POD.
Bottom line: If you have access to $350, or can save up for it in a few months - buy one. Hell, buy two, they're small! *wink* Pros and beginners will love and cherish the POD.

Feature:
best used in studio--- cant overdrive from the instrument and
maintain quality of sound.
Quality:
awsome package and sturdy like a little tank
Value:
great value-- would love to see the next generation rack system
use the xp options and give a third switch to overdrive at will.
Desirability:
hot little item -- my blues studio back-mixes are now hotter
thanks to line6
Sound:
Almost a 10 but not quite--- the xp will get a better
mix --- beware the old footboard does not work well with xp
though the xp gives you usb connections and effect/ amps/ speakercab mix and match.
Support:
great support folks--- you got questions? They have the answers!
Overall:
would stand behand them for studio use anytime
