Standard magnetic shielding makes placement simple in virtually any studio environment. The ST series monitors feature 7/8 in. I have a pair of NHT M-10 monitors and have had various tweeky mains from time to time. I build my own too. You can never get by with just one set of speakers, but I suspect these will get a lot of use and sound as good as all but the very best...
Sound
I've heard a little better, but not by much. The high end (above 7kHz) could be about 2dB hotter(but that could be "fatiguing" in a near-field monitor). But, the mids are smooth and flat, imaging is excellent, and there is no harshness at all. Bass is solid and not hyped. Transient response is good (I was a little worried about the Al cones, but the normal ringing is not evident).
Features
Let's see - 5-way binding posts, tweeter, woofer, ports, cabinet and a well designed x-over.... ...no annoying lights, no HF adjust to make problems later, no grills to obfuscate the highs...
Quality
Cabinet is reasonably well built. Everything looks fine. We'll see how the automotive paint lasts.
Value
Since the price on these dropped to $100 each, how could you go wrong? With a reasonable amplifier left over from the stone age (before powered monitors) you get sound as good as powered monitors that will set you back more than 4 times as much....

The Wow Factor
Unassuming - plain looking - great sounding (no blue pilot light...)
