"A Deafening Amount of Bang For the Buck"

Feature:
The mastering effects are the best feature. The learning curve is a little steep, but the more you use it, the simpler the operation becomes. I find the built-in rhythmes to be the least useful feature. Most MIDI keyboards have rhythmes that are at least as good or better. The amp modeling for guitars is not shabby.

Quality:
I had to take mine in for warranty repair when the unit refused to boot up one day. The repair shop did a great job. Didn't cost me a dime -- except for the gas money to take it to and from the shop. My town doesn't have a certified warrantee repair. The unit has performed flawlessly since I got it back. Like I said above, I do take the unit on the road and record live gigs.

Value:
This particular product is now a few years behind the "cutting edge" but is totally worth the purchase price. The price to quality ratio is very, very good.

Desirability:
I wouldn't say it was "sex appeal" that sealed the deal. It was direct to hard drive recording, fairly large capacity HD, and 24bit recording that sealed the deal.

Sound:
Of course, the sound is going to depend on the quality of your microphones. My first use of this machine was for an outdoor music festival. The results were pretty f*ing amazing! I've been using this for recording live performances ever since. I have only used it for home studio use for a few songs, but the results have been very satisfactory.

Ease of Use:
It's a little daunting learning all of the things this machine can do. The display screen is too small. The cursor functions are a little squirrely. But for the money, it's OK.

Support:
When my unit refused to boot up, the customer support people got me lined up with a repair shop that did the repair quickly and for free. No problems since then. Korg USA was eager to get my unit repaired and was most helpful.

Overall:
I am going to use this little unit until another product comes along -- in a few years, at least -- that does what this one does with more features, bigger hard drive, more simultaneous inputs...

"Hobbyist's best friend"

Feature:
I like it, the only thing is the little screen, the master effects are awesome and basically the way that capture the sound.

Quality:
yes, I love it, I can take it everywhere, and is very easy to set up so no complains in that dept. no problems.

Value:
well 2 years ago was the best thing for the price I guess, I'm not in the market for something else so I don't know if its something better out there for the price that I paid. I would buy it again

Desirability:
I think that as far as design is a good looking piece of equipment but in the other hand I think the color takes credibility away from it, I say this because my friends were amaze when I told them that I did the song with it, they though that it was some cheap recording thing

Sound:
I think this was a great purchase, It was my first encounter with a digital recording device and it was super easy to use, the sound is perfect I've had it for 2 years already and it has never failed me, I love the acoustic sound and the definition that you get out of it.

Ease of Use:
definitely its easy to use, when I bought it I was recording my song in less then half hour after I opened the box, of course using the manual, the manual and the video are very helpful, what it makes it a little uncomfortable is the screen. but overall is great!

Support:
I have never use it.

Overall:
I'm still happy with it, I'm just an amateur, not very serious musician and I use it to document my songs and my art with it so I guess still works for me, but I would give it another year or so

Korg D1200MKII 12-Track Digital Recorder
New, Blue and Mark II

The new D1200mkII Digital Recording Studio is a sophisticated, portable studio designed around the needs of the guitarist or songwriter. With cutting edge modeling effects and intuitive controls, the D1200mkII will help you capture your creative moments and deliver a superb-sounding final mix burnt onto an audio CD. The upgraded CD-RW drive allows 16x writing and 10x re-writing.

Ergonomically designed front panel
Korg digital recording studios are known for their logical, easy-to-use controls, and the D1200mkII is no exception. The controls are arranged to follow the recording process from start to finished CD. Even the angle of the backlit 240 x 64 pixel LCD display can be adjusted for comfortable viewing.

All the right connections
To ensure the highest audio quality, the D1200mkII uses high-performance balanced preamps on all analog inputs. Two XLR inputs provide high-quality mic preamps and are equipped to deliver +48V phantom power. A dedicated guitar input jack is also provided. The S/PDIF digital input automatically converts incoming 48 kHz and 32 kHz data into 44.1 kHz for recording.

Full-featured mixer section
The D1200mkII's 16-channel, 4-bus mixer section provides a separate three-band EQ on each analog input and each playback channel: high and low shelving EQ, and a mid-range peaking EQ with adjustable center frequency. The fader, EQ, pan, and effect settings of the mixer section can be stored in one of 100 scene memories.

High-performance recorder
The D1200mkII records and plays back either 16 or 24-bit/44.1 kHz audio data. The D1200mkII uses no data compression, so the sound you put in is exactly the sound you get back. A maximum of all 12 tracks can be played back simultaneously and up to four tracks can be recorded simultaneously. Each track contains eight virtual tracks, giving you a total of 96 tracks per song.

Abundant effects, including REMS Modeling
The D1200mkII provides three independent effect systems (44-bit internal processing). Up to eight insert effects can be assigned to individual channels. Two master effects provide polish to your mix, and the final effect can add the best overall EQ, compression/limiting, etc. to the master L/R channels. Combinations using up to five of the 98 available effect algorithms provide 128 insert, 32 master, and 32 final effects. You can edit any of these 192 preset programs and save them to any of the 192 user program memories.

For the guitarist, bassist or singer/songwriter, the D1200mkII simplifies the initial set-up process. Just turn on the Modeling mode and choose Guitar, Bass, or Mic. The D1200mkII will automatically route the effects to your input, assign the appropriate modeling effects to the three dedicated knobs, and will arm the first two tracks for recording.

Sophisticated and flexible track editing
The D1200mkII is packed with powerful non-destructive editing tools. It's easy to move sections of your tracks or song around using the Copy, Insert, Swap and Delete commands. Powerful pro-level functions include Normalize and Time Compression/Expansion.

High-capacity 40 GB hard drive plus USB connector
The D1200mkII contains a large 40 GB hard drive, which offers a whopping 122 hours of recording time (at 16-bit recording, one track). Within the hard drive, 2 GB of space (FAT 16 format) is automatically allocated as a USB drive that can be accessed directly from a computer by simply connecting the two devices with a common USB cable. By saving song data or .WAV files in this area, you can easily backup or restore song data, import or export .WAV files, or load system data. This makes it easy to move your songs into computer-based applications, and to even email song files via the Internet.

Internal CD-RW burner and more great features
An internal 16x CD-RW drive is contained in the D1200mkII, allowing you to backup and restore your songs and effect data, import/export .WAV data, and create your own audio CDs. The D1200mkII can synchronize with a PC or other external sequencers, recorders or rhythm machines that support MIDI clock or MTC. The D1200mkII includes many other great features like an Auto Save function, built-in auto chromatic tuner and a high-quality PCM tone generator that provides 96 different metronome patterns and 215 rhythm patterns.
