J. Rockett Audio Designs Archer Ikon Overdrive and Boost Pedal

zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Use the Archer Ikon as a classic, Klon-based overdrive, turn the gain knob down to use the pedal as a simple clean boost, or dial in anything in between.

The Archer Ikon is sort of a 2 in one guitar pedal. It can be used as just a clean boost by turning the gain all the way down. As you introduce gain it will attenuate the clean signal but there is a magical blend in between that you will find. Please experiment!!

Wow. Just wow. As someone who is new to the world of Klon klones I didn’t know what to expect save for maybe a unicorn emerging from my amp as I use it because that’s what just about everyone who’s ever used a Klon says about the excellent quality of tone produced by this mythical circuit. I’m hear you tell you I have not been deceived. The sound really is that good. I’ve never used a real Klon so I can’t attest to its authenticity, but the Ikon sounds truly amazing. You can roll the gain all the way down and use it a sweet clean boost or use it to push your amp into crunchy territory. It only has a treble control but that’s enough. It has tons of headroom for clean boost and lots of pretty crunchy gain when turned up. So far I think it sounds best with a lower wattage amp that can be pushed with this pedal but it really sharpens up the tone of higher wattage amps too. It’s fairly quiet but gets a little noisy with the gain all the way up. It’s crazy heavy for such a small pedal which suggests it’ll last for a while. You can get an optional replacement switch for it directly from J. Rockett that pops in and out without any tools. If you hate tube screamers like I do but you want a good transparent overdrive look no further.
