The Ibanez X Series: Radical Shapes

Those who practice the art of Chaos magic believe that "Nothing is True and Everything is Permitted." Shape can be shifted, rules can be broken, and radical thoughts are the norm. This way of thinking might also apply to Ibanez X series. With the advent of the X series, Ibanez reintroduced non-traditional guitar shapes back into the mix. These off-the-wall shapes stand out in a crowd, but they are also excellent examples of form meeting function. There are no limits for the X series.

Ibanez's Edge 3 Locking Tremolo

The Edge III tremolo is similar in construction and feel to the original Edge locking trem; however, it also features lower profile fine-tuners inspired by the Lo-PRO Edge and massive saddles. The Edge III features two screws in the arm pocket, which allow easy adjustment of the arm height and torque. In the last two decades, no other guitar maker besides Ibanez has done so much to advance the art and science of the tremolo. The Edge III represents the next phase in locking tremolos.

This guitar is the coolest looking thing I have ever seen. Unfortunately the wicked looking ones don't play as well but this guitar is actually pretty solid. I love the look and the jumbo frets, makes this guitar very easy to play and th3 19-24 frets are very easy to access. The only aspect I don't like is the bolt on neck. I usually stay away from bolt on necks that also have a floating tremolo. The pick ups are great but I wish they had more power for pinch harmonics. Over all this guitar is super comfortable for its wicked shape, sitting down or standing up it feels great. I would have to give this guitar a 7 out of 10 on sound, 10 out of 10 on looks, and a 10 out of 10 on comfort. I think I will change out the pick ups later on down the road but I can definatly say Im keeping this one forever.
