What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Mahogany body Rich, warm, focused sound; added sustain
Bound rosewood fretboard Warm rosewood tone; beautiful binding
DiMarzio Air Norton neck pickup Deep and warm sound; hotter output
DiMarzio Tone Zone bridge pickup Higher output, wider dynamic range

Since it was originally introduced in 1975, the Destroyer has become an icon of that era's chapter in rock n' roll history. Over the years it has undergone many incarnations and the perennial classic returns once again. The DT520 features a slick black finish. The body and neck of both guitars are made of a tight Mahogany for maximum resonance. The bound Rosewood fingerboard is adorned with smart Pearl/Abalone block inlay and Jumbo frets.

The DT520 also features Tight-tune bridge for increased sustain and tuning stability, and Sure Grip III control knobs for no-slip control. But don't let it's good looks deceive you -- the versatile combination of a DiMarzio "Air Norton" in the neck and a DiMarzio "The Tone Zone" in the bridge delivers a wide range of tones from clean to crushing. It's not called the Destroyer for nothing.

"Good old Destroyer"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I had one of these in the early 80's and always regretted losing it. I bought the new one, and truthfully had low expectations because I play higher end guitars these days and am very busy in an original hard rock band. I can tell you I am more than pleasantly surprised! This is really an awesome guitar. It feels great, sounds great (the Dimarzios have outstanding tone), the quality is great. Love my new Destroyer!
