What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Bound ebony fretboard Luxurious looks and focused tone
Flamed maple top Premium wood grain with bright, projecting tone
Gibraltar Standard bridge Thick low end with endless sustain
Mahogany body Rich, warm, focused sound; added sustain

Like the classics of yesteryear, the Ibanez AR720FM's Mahogany body features the first-of-its-kind symmetrical double-cutaway and Abalone body binding that gracefully outlines its exquisite flamed Maple top. Arguably, it is the biggest leap forward Ibanez made 40 years ago that will be most appreciated by today's player: the Tri-Sound switching system--a unique pickup configuration control that pack this axe with a rich tonal palette. No matter what the setting, the 720's Super 80 "Flying Finger" pickups deliver smooth, warm, vintage sound that make this Artist a must for fans of classic rock tone. The 3-piece Maple set-in neck features old school Pearl/ Abalone block inlays, and is expertly joined to the body, finished with a baby-smooth heel. The AR720FM is the true path back to one of rock's most dynamic chapters.

Hard shell case included.

The return of a legend -- the Artist is back! Anyone who knows their guitar history will tell you: Ibanez spent much of the 1970's in the role of the prodigious student -- building copies of the classics that ultimately exceeded the quality of the originals. They'd proven themselves quite capable, but would they ever make their own distinctive contribution to the guitar pantheon? The Artist was the first original Ibanez design to prove Ibanez was hell-bent on standing shoulder to shoulder with the industry's giants.

I originally ordered an Ibanez AR420, but I think I got a lemon. It just didn't seem to be the quality I have seen on line. zZounds offered a replacement, but I decided to upgrade to the AR720 instead. Really great guitar....very beautiful looks, great finish work, plays great and the tri-tone pick-ups are hot and sound amazing! This guitar has the heft of a medium weight Les Paul or Strat. My guitar was pretty close to perfect out of the box minus changing string gauges and consequently making a truss rod adjustments. I picked the aged whiskey burst and am very happy! Just a word about my credentials. I have played for 46 years with over 20 years as an employed musician, some of which was for the DOD doing overseas tours for the military in several different countries. I have owned and played many guitars including Les Paul Customs, Standards, and mini- Humbucker Deluxes as well as Strats, Teles and many, many more. I'm even getting rid of two Les Pauls, one Gibson and one Epi. This Ibanez covers what they both could and more! All around very pleased and would deffinately recommend !!!
