Been waiting to get your hands on an acoustic-electric bass? The Ibanez AEB10E is a great deal on a bass that does it all. Plugged or unplugged, the AEB10E offers outstanding tone and smooth playability with a sapele body and a Fishman Sonicore electronic system. For bassists representing a wide range of styles, the AEB10E is a stellar way to bring the sound of an acoustic bass to your next performance, recording, or jam session.

Traditional Tonewoods

The AEB10E starts with the tried-and-true combination of sapele back and sides with a spruce top. Sapele provides a robust tone through the mids and bass, while the spruce top adds a defined snap to the top end. As a bassist, much of your tonal character lives in the low mids, and the AEB10E does a great job highlighting this exact range. Finger or flatpick juicy bass lines and progressions along the comfortable mahogany neck and purpleheart fingerboard. With a thin profile and easy action, the AEB10E just begs you to keep playing.

Advanced Electronics

To capture every natural nuance and texture of the AEB10E, Ibanez has outfitted this bass with a Fishman Sonicore electronic system with an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp. Use the onboard 1/4-inch or XLR output to easily interface this bass with any bass amp, PA system, or recording rig. A three-band EQ, phase switch, and feedback-reducing shape control allows you to craft the perfect expression of your playing at any gig or session. Also included is a tuner which doubles as a read more mute switch.

I can't imagine looking to upgrade from this instrument; It's all I need and more.
Sound
Great sound, mellow and clear. Holds its own unplugged better than many higher-priced instruments. Plugged in, the high end is a little bit weaker than I'd like, but for the money, this bass is fantastic.
Features
On-board tuner and eq are great. I also like the fact that it uses AA batteries.
Ease of Use
Great action right out of the box. I find it a little harder to play than my (Fender knockoff) electric, but not as much as I would have guessed.
Quality
This is a really well-made instrument. It's solid, and you can tell they paid attention to the details. This bass is beautiful--I have the natural finish model, which is gorgeous. My only regret is that sometimes, I wish I'd opted for the black. Its high-gloss finish is really beautiful.
Value
I played a lot of acoustic/electrics before I bought this one. The only better instruments were much, much more expensive. In its price range, nothing can touch this bass.
