Designed with the sophisticated guitarist in mind, the Gretsch G6122-1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman guitar builds atop a hollow maple body with an impressive of special features and accessories.

Made to be Played

The all-maple construction and hollowbody design of the G6122 yield a bright tone that resonates organically. The three-piece maple neck is set into the body, and capped with an ebony fretboard for smooth playing. A comfort pad on the guitar's back ensures you'll have no problem enduring through late night jam sessions. You can make notes flutter with the Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, or push all the way down for dramatic dives.

Filter'Trons for Definitive Gretsch Sound

The G6122 sports Gretsch Filter'Tron pickups in the bridge and neck positions. These humbuckers are renowned for their clarity and definition, providing the jangly but rich clean tones the guitar's namesake is known for. Of course, the Filter'Trons also deliver when you need less gentle, and a bit more grit. Playing the guitar through an overdriven tube amp will make the Filter'Trons come alive with warm harmonics, while retaining the tonal definition of a clean signal.

Shape Your Sound

A tone tinkerer's delight, the G6122's top features an array of knobs and switches that may intimidate some, but are quite intuitive and player-friendly. A master volume knob on the lower cutaway controls the guitar's overall volume, while the two knobs on the guitar's bout adjust the individual bridge read more and pickup volume levels. A three-way pickup selector toggles between the two, and a standby switch instantly mutes the sound, enabling you to make your own tremolo effects.

Tone adjustments are handled by the three-position tone switch. This switch instantly changes the guitar's tone from full brightness to slightly rolled-off highs to muffled treble -- think warm jazz tones. Finally, you can mute the top or bottom three strings with the guitar's muffler system, found on two switches near the bridge.

I bought my 6122 1962 Gretsch Country Gentleman almost 2 years ago. I am completely satisfied with the guitar. It is easy to play. The sound of it is great. When I bought the guitar, the only question I had was: Do I want Walnut Stain or Walnut Stain Blemish. I bought the latter. When it arrived, it was actually prettier in real than it was on the photos. So far, I have had no issues with it. I still don't play like Chet Atkins with it but I'm pretty sure that's my fault, not the guitar.
