Straight from the Gibson Custom Shop comes the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard -- a guitar that unites all the best in modern guitar craft with the classic design of a Les Paul Standard. Wielding a dazzling array of new features and enhancements, the Les Paul Axcess Standard has been specifically catered to meet the demands of today's rock guitarist. From the comfortably crafted body to the included Floyd Rose tremolo system, the Les Paul Axcess Standard is classic Les Paul with an absolutely modern edge.

Floyd Rose with R4 Locking Nut

On first glance, the most striking thing about the Les Paul Axcess Standard is the inclusion of a genuine Floyd Rose tremolo system. World famous since its inception in 1977, the Floyd Rose has always provided players with a unique set of tremelo options from subtle tremors to full-force dive-bombs. What's great about the Les Paul Axcess Standard is that the Floyd Rose is installed by the Gibson Custom Shop during the guitar's construction. Avoiding the risky venture of installing a Floyd Rose after the fact, the Les Paul Axcess Standard is built with a Floyd Rose as part of its design making for extremely sturdy installation and lasting stability. Combine that with the R4 locking nut, and you have a reliable shredding machine.

Hot Humbuckers with Coil-tapping

The Les Paul Axcess Standard comes with a 498T and 496R pickup set. These hot humbuckers provide the sizzling tone needed to keep up with the Floyd Rose and shredable neck design. read more For added versatility, the electronics are configured with dual push/pull coil-tapping switches built into the rhythm and treble tone knobs. The coil-tapping option makes it easy to switch between the traditional broad body of a humbucker and a tighter high-end squeal of a single-coil pickup. The result is a generous utility belt of explosive sonic flavors. Try, for example, the coil-tap option on the 498T bridge pickup. You get a stabbing lead tone absolutely ideal for Floyd Rose dive-bombing.

Comfortable Body and Expanded Cutaway Access

If the versatile electronics and included Floyd Rose weren't enough to make this a stand-out Les Paul, Gibson has also built the Axcess Standard with extremely comfortable contours and a unique cutaway design. The mahogany body has been weight-relieved with a "belly scarf" counter along the back that comfortably rests on the body of the player. Overall, the build is a bit slimmer than a typical Les Paul Standards which enhances the playability while reducing the guitar's overall weight. Where the single-piece mahogany neck is joined, a countered "heel-cut" cutaway has been carved to give an unprecedented range of extension along the fingerboard. With so many details specifically crafted for the utmost in smooth playability, the Les Paul Axcess Standard is as good as it gets for gigging rock musicians.

Gibson LP Axcess Std Floyd Rose

For nearly six decades now, Gibson's Les Paul Standard has stood the test of time as the most playable guitar in the world. While others have attempted to imitate it, none have come close to duplicating the qualities of the finest six-stringed instrument on the planet. Yet each year, Gibson attempts to improve on the world's best guitar. Now Gibson introduces the Les Paul Axcess Standard from Gibson Custom.

Player's have long wanted to know what was meant by "Dare to be different". The Les Paul Axcess Standard is more than just "different." It's the result of Gibson's drive to build the best Les Paul Standard possible, while staying true to the design and performance of the iconic Les Pauls of the past.

The Les Paul Axcess Standard from Gibson Custom carries all the elegant styling, fluid body lines and rocking attitude of a classic Les Paul Standard from the golden era of the late 1950s. Upon closer examination, however, the Les Paul Axcess reveals a handful of upgrades -- all modifications made in the name of maximum playability and versatility.

Body and Neck

Encounter the clever structural alteration that gives this model its name by taking the instrument in your hands and running your fingers up the neck. The Axcess sports what looks from the front to be a traditional Les Paul neck joint, yet the neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint at the upper cutaway have been contoured to provide a "heelless" feel, and an unimpeded reach right up to the 22nd fret. No more stretching against the traditional neck heel to achieve the upper-fret access that your lead style demands -- the Axcess gives you that legendary Les Paul playability all the way up the neck, welcoming you to take it right over the top. The one-piece, 24 3/4" scale length, mahogany neck features a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid fingerboard inlays.

To further enhance playing comfort, this smoothly carved neck joint is combined with a "belly scarf" (aka ribcage contour) that allows the body of the guitar to hug closely to your own body in the playing position without digging in. Add to these contours the Les Paul Axcess's slightly thinner body, made from weight-relieved mahogany - with a carved maple top available in Iced Tea Burst or Gun Metal Gray finishes and single-ply cream binding on body top - and you've got an instrument that is refreshingly light, and a pure joy to play either strapped on, or in a seated position.

Hardware

The most noticeable addition is the Floyd Rose tailpiece, a unit optimized for anything from subtle vibrato wobbles to dramatic, rumbling divebombs. On the Les Paul Axcess Standard the vibrato is installed right at Gibson Custom as part of the manufacturing process, which means this potent piece of high-performance hardware interacts seamlessly with the design of the guitar. Partnered with an R4 locking nut, it also guarantees outstanding tuning stability and return-to-pitch accuracy.

The Les Paul Axcess now comes juiced with two super hot Gibson pickups, the 498T and the 496R. These forces to reckoned with pickups yield numerous tonal opportunities and can help drive your favorite amp to crunch and scorching - leads in addition to providing ballsy blues tones, warm - fluid vocal tones, snappy country, and fat, sweet growls. This is possible because these extraordinary, hot pickups are wired in hum cancelling series/parallel with a push/pull tone knob for each, providing even more tonal combinations than the first version Les Paul Axcess Standard. Simply pull up the treble and/or rhythm tone control knobs to "axcess" single coil tones and experiment with combining full humbucking with single coil tones.

These unique tonal combinations excel at delivering everything from singing classic rock lead tones to contemporary crunch to extremes of twang and jangle. Even the pure-nickel wound .10-.46 Gibson Vintage Strings it ships with contribute toward its rich, textured voice. Each instrument also comes with a Gibson Custom hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.

Tremendous feel, outstanding sound, beautiful looking and, incredibly versatile. Much lighter than the usual Les Paul's and, the cutaway on the back of the instrument, where the high note are, make it so easy to reach those notes at the top of the neck. The whammy and Floyd Rose bridge are genius on this guitar.
