Hot, Coil-Tappable 490R and 498T Humbuckers

In the pickup slots the Gibson Les Paul Supreme has a 490R holding down the neck position and a 498T in the bridge. Utilizing genuine alnico magnets, these pickups are significantly hotter than the '57 Classics that appear on many other Gibson Les Pauls. In short, they were designed to deliver a more versatile and powerful sound for contemporary players. Both pickups benefit hugely from a four-conductor wiring scheme, read more allowing both 490s to be connected to a push/pull knob for splitting the coils if so desired. If modded to a push/pull switch, the tonal capabilities of a normal Les Paul are essentially doubled, allowing the humbuckers to function somewhat more like single-coil pickups.
