The Gibson '56 Les Paul Goldtop VOS has a carved Maple top and solid, non-weight relieved Mahogany back with a 1-piece Mahogany neck with a Hide Glue Neck-Fit with a long neck tenon. It also has a 50's rounded profile with a rosewood fingerboard and a historic truss rod assembly (no tubing) which is considered more authentic. The '56 Gold Top also has an ABR-1 bridge and lightweight aluminum tailpiece and gold top hat knobs with dial pointers. The pickups on the '56 Goldtop are the P-90 single-coil Alnico magnet pickups with 2 volume and 2 tone controls with the "bumblebee" capacitors and a three-way switch with an amber toggle cap.
