"Great value, neutral sound."

Feature:
Just a straightforward monitor.

Quality:
VERY solid.

Value:
I compared these to M-Audio BX5's and the Fostex won hands down. The M-Audio sounded tinny and harsh.

Sound:
Nice full neutral sound -- great for mixing.

Support:
I like Fostex support, but haven't used it for problems, just questios from time to time.

Overall:
These monitors seem very accurate, so for the price, they're awfully hard to beat. Fostex started as a speaker driver company, so their experience shows.

"If you want quality sound in a smaller box but can't afford GENELECS, I would seriously audition these"

Feature:
Hardly any. Which is strangely reassuring! Volume, balanced xlr & trs jacks.

Quality:
For the price they are very solid and sound refined.

Value:
Serious studio monitoring can be undertaken with these. However, mixes would have to be referenced on larger systems for accurate bass and for a more broad sense of space between sounds.

Desirability:
sounds better than it looks. If you shop with your ears you will want it!

Sound:
For their size and price they are excellent. Nuetral and well balanced throughout the frequency range. They can handle the low end much better than one would think, looking at them. Best placed away from rear walls.

Support:
I have no idea yet!

Overall:
For monitors of this size only GENELECS sounded better. In fact for the next size up the FOSTEX pm1's sounded very similar and the rest of the competition at this price point, lacked the refinement and long term use of the pm05's

About This Product!
Description
Docs
The powered PM05 studio monitors' 5 in. LF driver has been developed to obtain extremely pure music reproduction by employing the latest technology in cone material. The cone uses a mixture of cut and milled fibers that are made from aromatic polyamide. It is then impregnated with resins to simultaneously achieve high rigidity and optimum damping. The cone has an olefin film thermally adhered to its surface to control frequency response and to establish long-term reliability. The center dust cap is made of non-wood cellulose material and is also impregnated with resin. The voice coil is made of super high purity copper wire to achieve very low distortion. The PM05's .75 in. soft dome tweeter employs Fostex's UFLC technology (Poly Urethane Film Laminated Cloth) to achieve lightweight and high stability performance. Available as a pair.

The compact PM0.5 measures 7-1/8 in. H x 11 in. H x 10-1/4 in. D (w/heat sink) and weighs 14.3 lbs. each. Ideal for small project studios or even remote recording applications, the PM0.5 is amazingly powerful, despite its size. For example, it generates 105dB SPL at 1 meter across the critical midrange bandwidth from 80Hz to 3kHz. Free field response is 50Hz ~ 20kHz +/- 2dB.

Performance is tailored further by the use of cut-off filters: 40 Hz for the woofer and 22kHz for the tweeter. These safeguards prevent the drivers from attempting to reproduce frequencies outside of their performance specifications.
