Fender hit a giant bass home run in 1960 by introducing its Deluxe-model four-string instrument—the Jazz Bass guitar. With its sleek offset body; thin, fast neck and rich, growling tone, it was a raring, roaring racecar of a bass that quickly established itself as a must-have instrument.

The new American Standard Jazz Bass is an even finer player’s instrument—a modern interpretation of Fender's classic instrument for today’s players. Features include their new high-mass vintage bridge, a thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, new and improved Fender tuning keys that keep the classic look but are 30 percent lighter, a richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance, a great-looking glossed maple or rosewood fingerboard and satin back for smooth playability, a new Fender-exclusive SKB molded case and a gorgeous new Blizzard Pearl finish option.

Fender American Standard Jazz Electric Bass (Maple, With Case) Reviews

9 People rated this product :
           9 out of 10
           10 out of 10
"Best fender bass since the 70's"
Feature:
The best part about this bass for me is its simplicity. There are no active electronics or peripheral features; just an untampered jazz bass sound. But you can still get a huge range of sound out of this product.

Quality:
Its an American made fender, of course the quality is amazing. I replaced the white pick-guard with a black one (I own a black maple model) and all the screw holes lined up perfectly. The set up was absolutely flawless; i didn't need to tweak a thing. There hasn't been a single problem with this axe.

Value:
I've tried other more expensive basses, and this is far superior to any of them. I would have to say that the value is amazing, and even if I had twice as much money to spend I would still go for this bass. I prefer it to the deluxe models.

Desirability:
The model I have is black with a maple fingerboard. When it had its original white pickguard, it looked pretty normal. But when I put the black pickguard on it looked so sexy. Fenders may have simple aesthetics, but they're still beautiful axes.

Sound:
The sound is simply spectacular. Everything you could want out of a jazz bass. You can get a cool mellow sound out of the neck pickup, or a growl out of the bridge pickup. Easily the best sounding passive bass I have ever played. It just cuts through the mix. And the new bridge gives it a punch and clarity that did not exist in its predecessor.

Ease of Use:
This bass plays itself. The neck is so fast and smooth, the feel is just right. A beginner could get an amazing sound out of this bass. It's one of the fastest necks I've ever played.

Support:
There haven't been any problems with the bass, so I haven't had to deal with fender. They were really fast to deliver though. I got this axe a week after I ordered it, and it had only been available for purchase for a day.

Overall:
When fender announced that they had redesigned the American series, I was unimpressed at first. I had played a few earlier American basses, and I thought how different could this one be. All I can say is that those little changes made a huge difference. The new high-mass bridge is the best thing fender has done in years. The neck finish is amazing, and the gloss maple fingerboard just lights up on stage. I honestly can't find any fault about this product, and I'm usually such a cynic about instruments!
