Fender 60th Anniversary Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar (Maple, with Gig Bag) Reviews

"A $500 very nice suprise"
Feature:
Typical standard strat stuff, but with tex mex pickups and an awesome paint job,it's beautiful...well at least mine was done perfect. All hardware was fine and it stayed in tune after several hrs playing of course I'm not a very big whammy bar fan. If you are a whammy user you shouldn't be looking at this type of bridge anyways. Go floyd rose or some type of locking bridge/tuner combo.

Quality:
I still can't believe this guitar is a MiM. I couldn't say about all the MiM strats but my 60th standard was in pristine condition and well put together. No flaws I could find at all. The action and intonation was spot on although maybe I got lucky. Maybe since it was an "anniversary" model fender paid someone extra to quality control it lol. This guitar would be fine gigging..but who gigs without a backup??

Value:
I don't know about the regular MiM strats so I'm not sure if this one is exactly worth it for the "60th" label and Tex Mex pups. If the MiMs are all made similar then just get the regular if your really tight on money..but there will never be another "60th" blizzard pearl beauty with custom bag and pickups. Awesome value for the price.

Desirability:
this is a looker..basically shiny metallic flake silver paint and tinted(aged maple look) neck = very purty

Sound:
I'm usually a humbucker man but this is an awesome sounding strat..the pups do hum at positions 1,3,5 but with certain settings on my v-amp2 there is absolute silence,so I just get that twangy sound or bluesy riffs. This guitar isn't really a metal guitar but if you wanted metal you'ld be looking at ibanez or esp ltd at this price range anyways. I will probably change the pups anyways in the near future...not that it needs it..just my preference.

Ease of Use:
If you don't know how to play a guitar, it may be very tough to use:)

Support:
Never had to deal with them...

Overall:
I was very suprised at this MiM...I took a chance since I've played some american strats at the local music shop but didnt want to pay the big bucks for. This gives me all the straty tones I want. Considering this is a limited 60th anniversary model its also a collectible so I look at it not as an investment but a piece of history. This one you can play with and enjoy unlike the $4000 custom shop 60th one in which if I wanted to spend the money on..I would just keep it in a case and never touch it. I just don't see any reason to get the 60th american strat if this one is already as good unless you just want the "made in America" stamp and a different color... pups can be changed on the standard to sound the same as the MiA one.

"Great guitar for the price"
Feature:
The gig bag is essentially useless. If you're going to own a guitar this nice, you won't keep it in a small satchel like this.

Quality:
It's a fantasic sounding and feeling guitar. My only complaint is that it's manufactured in Mexico, and like all mexican strats one touch of the whammy bar and the whole thing goes out of tune. Every time I buy a strat I strap the bar down so it doesn't effect my playing. I know a few folks who do the same thing.

Value:
I was expecting it to cost a lot more honestly.

Desirability:
I'm 25 this year, so when I'm 50 fender will be 85. It's more of a personal thing for me than it is an instrumental.

Sound:
It sounds like a good stratocaster should.

Ease of Use:
It's like cutting butter w/ a hot knife. The vintage frets are really good, and so is the action on mine.

Support:
Fender is always good for support. Plus its' such a popular guitar that almost any tech can fix it.

Overall:
I'll be satisfied w/ this until I die. I'm holding onto it as a keepsake. Other people buy watches and wedding rings, I collect guitars. ;)
