Description
Docs
The upscale MH400NT is absolutely packed with features. For starters, this is a set neck instrument with a quilted maple top and EMG humbuckers. Killer, right? Well there's more. The NT is built with the innovative Earvana Compensated Nut for more exact intonation and tuning across the neck. Its Set-Thru neck joint gives you the look and feel of a neck-thru design, with the warmth and true wood tone of a set neck. It's glassy-smooth and extremely comfortable. Other features include that awesome quilted top, a mahogany body, a 3-piece maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard (XJ frets), a Tune-o-matic bridge with string-thru-body, black hardware including Grover tuners, and cool, offset neck inlays. It's a lot of guitar for the money.

Grover Tuners
High-quality Grover tuning machines are well known for their precise gear ratio, tuning stability and durability. They make a great complement to the other upscale features of ESP's 400-level instruments.

Double Action Truss Rods
All ESP/LTD guitars and basses feature a 'double-action' truss rod design. Unlike a normal (single) truss rod, this one is adjustable in two different directions. This means that you'll never run into a situation where the neck has 'run out of adjustment'. Regardless of which ESP model you choose, you'll get years and years of playing enjoyment.

EMG Pickups
There truly is no comparison between active EMG's and conventional pickups. EMG's frequency response is shaped much differently. Conventional pickups typically exhibit a dry "peaky" frequency response, while EMG's have a much broader bandwidth that's better for harmonic pull-offs and chord definition. Individual notes have better presence and are dynamic. Playing styles are more pronounced and different techniques can be easily accommodated.

"THE BEST GUITAR EVER!!!! The price, workmanship, sound and look."
Feature:
The components are top-notch. The grover tuners are extremely precise and when you tune your guitar, it stays in tune, especially in combination with the Earvana nut, tune-o-matic and string-thru-body. Never worry about bending a note out of tune. The mohagony body resonates for days, the quilted-maple top and the binding makes it look and feel like an overly expensive guitar. The only feature I wish it had is a selection of colors. Trans-black is great, but a trans-dark cherry or tiger-eye would make me drool.

Quality:
This guitar will last forever (provided it is well taken care of). The workmanship and quality are top-notch, it feels like a guitar hand-built in the USA that sells for three-times as much.

Value:
This product is well-worth it's selling price. It's a diamond in the rough.

Desirability:
This guitar is so sexy it makes me drool just thinking about it. It is absolutely aesthetically beautiful. The binding, the choice of woods, quilted-top... the beautiful grain of the fret-board.

Sound:
This guitar sounds better than most $1800+ guitars I've played. It's great for all types of musical styles from jazz to metal, plugged in or unplugged. Percussive rythmn playing is crystal clear, not muddy. Soloing is so good, so so good! The tone! Oh my, the tone!

Support:
Nope.

Overall:
I considered three guitars (a Peavey Wolfgang, Music Man EVH, and an ESP Horizon) before I discovered the MH400-NT. The MH400-NT plays just as well as the other three, feels just as solid, is just as comfortable to play, is just as sexy and costs way less than either of the three. You can't beat it. And it has EMGs!!! I would only supplement it with a seven-string version of this guitar. ESP makes a six-string baritone version of this guitar, but I want all seven strings.

"Get this guitar if you play metal"
Feature:
Not a huge slew of features, but all of the parts are well made and well put together. The grover tuners are really precise, the 81/85 pickups sound great, the mohogany body is really solid, and the fretboard feels really fast. Good quality parts.

Quality:
This guitar was made in Korea, and is very well put together, there are no paint blemishes, or chips in the wood of any kind. Good setup.

Value:
Amazing metal guitar for the price. I got mine as a blemished one for 450 dollars. There is no blemish to be seen. It looks like the "blemish" was the fact that somebody bought the guitar then returned it. It was still in the factory sealed box when I got it. I lucked out big time.

Desirability:
This guitar looks sweet. For some reason it looks purple on the esp website, but it's a really dark see thru blackish blue color. Really hot, and the black hardware looks good too.

Sound:
The sound of this guitar is absolutely awesome. It's perfect for metal. The string thru body and neck thru added to the 81/85 pickups make this thing sound awesome. The sustain is great, and it rips for metal. I'm not too sure about other styles but definitely for metal

Support:
I've contacted esp a few times and the response has usually been quick and concise

Overall:
This guitar is now my main axe, topping my gibson, my schecter and my Ibanez. It should last a long long time with proper care. It plays really good, and is just all around an awesome guitar.
