The ESP LTD H1007 electric guitar delivers everything a headbanger could desire in an affordable, metal-ready 7-string. Grind to new lows with the seventh string, achieve unique tunings, or express unusual chords and voicings which aren't possible on traditional axes. Play anywhere on the neck on any of the 24 extra-jumbo frets thanks to a Thin U neck contour. Need an axe with a voice? EMG pickups provide that crunch metalheads crave and active electronics provide an extra boost that will help your riffs cut through the mix.

Sleek Horizon Body

The ESP LTD H1007 offers rich, deep tones thanks to its mahogany horizon-style body and maple neck with set-neck construction. And with a flamed maple top and See-Thru Black finish, the body looks just as good as it sounds. Playability on the ESP LTD H1007 is just as stellar, with a 25.5-inch scale rosewood fingerboard, 24 extra jumbo frets, and a Thin U contour. Shredding will be a breeze on this metal masher!

Active EMG Pickups

The majority of guitars employ passive pickups, while active pickups are typically used on bass guitars. That being said, most guitars simply aren't capable of producing the low notes the ESP LTD H1007 can achieve. That's why this 7-string is equipped with active, or battery-powered, pickups just like you'd typically find on a bass guitar. That added power gives a much needed boost to the low end, pre-amplifying those low As and Bs so they hit your amp stack with crystal clarity.

I debated for years moving to a 7 string and finally did it with the H1007 and was glad I did. Overall great craftsmanship on the build and a real joy to play. I find the neck profile very similar to the Wizard neck from Ibanez...I played those for many years but something was just a little different about the ESP profile. Aside from being wider to fit the B string it just feels a tad bit thicker and that's exactly what I was looking for. The EMG's work great...I don't really have a lot to compare them to in the 7 string area but no complaints for what I do with them. If this were my only guitar and I was focused more on lead work I might be inclined to go passive...but my 6 strings do the job quite well for that sort of thing. I must confess I was a bit puzzled by the action from the factory...it was a bit on the high side at 4mm on the B. The bridge screws were bottomed out and there was no ability to adjust the bridge lower. After a bit of research I found a few other folks with "tuneomatic" type bridges that had the same issue. The remedy was to cut about 5mm off of the screw length. Mind you this is not for the faint of heart or someone without proper tools...but in about 5 minutes problem solved. I was able to get about 1.5mm on the high strings and 2mm on the B. You do need to keep the B string higher to avoid "strum buzz"...it's thicker and will buzz a little when open strummed. Thanks ESP for a great instrument...I will see you on the 6 string side soon. read more
