The Epiphone G-400 features a classic double cutaway shape with 2 AlNiCo humbuckers, chrome hardware, 24.75 in. scale, Mahogany neck and body, and Rosewood fingerboard with trapezoidal inlays. Sound: This guitar sounds incredible. Clean it has a bright, ringing, full electric tone, and distorted it has a fierce, dark, aggressive tone. I think that you can play just about anything on this guitar and it would sound great. I've played it through normal amplifiers and through the computer with GuitarRig and it sounds awesome both ways. Feature: The guitar has great tuners, it tunes easily and stays in-tune very well. The pick-ups are better than most of the lower Epiphone models and they have covers and look great. They also sound amazing, as detailed above. Also there is a handy switch that lets you choose to use the neck pick-up, bridge pick-up, or both. This guitar also has the awesome trapezoid inlays on the neck which gives it a sweet Gibson look. Ease of Use: This guitar is so easy and fluid to play. For some reason the neck just feels great. I find it easier to play anything on this guitar than on other guitars, probably just because it is better quality. Quality: The quality is fantastic. You couldn't ask for better quality at this price. Everything is solid and well put-together. It doesn't seem to have any "cut corners" or anything. Value: This thing is probably the best value in all of musical gear. For typical $300 - $400 it goes for, it is really a steal. I think it is at the same quality level as a Gibson -- I really do. Manufacturer Support: I haven't had any contact with Epiphone but I know they would replace the guitar if I had a problem because I have heard the same thing from others. The Wow Factor: The SG body is probably one of the sexiest guitar bodies ever. Every time people see my guitar they comment on how awesome it looks. The finish is really nice and glossy and the trapezoid inlays really set it off. Overall: I will never want another guitar until this one like, dies somehow. This guitar is just so great that I don't really see how I could possibly improve upon it. I only wish that I had bought it sooner.

Sound: I think many who think this guitar is a little 'flat' haven't taken the time to set it up correctly for what they want to do. Before setting it up I was thinking about changing the pickups. After a little research on the internet (you can spend $35 to have it done at a shop) I set it up my self and it sounds great. I can get a nice blues sound or crunch some chords if I want and then pop over for some hard riffs. Feature: Again the features are dependant on the set up. I set the rythemn pickups to be 'hotter' on the bass side and the treble pickup to really get as close to a twang as i could and it sounds great when they are both on. Some people knock the tuners on this model and keep in mind the weather and how well you string your instrument makes a difference. I was ready to get new tuners this summer but they have been keeping pitch this winter so I'll wait to see. Quality: Made well. My friend has a Gibson Les Paul Classic and he was impressed with the Epiphone G-400. Nothing has gone wrong with it and it looks great so I'm not complainng. I still may change the tuners but right now that is it. Value: I spent almost 6 monthes researching and compareing before I bought this guitar and I am still happy with it and the price. Sure I would love a Gibson but I don't have that cash. If you want humbucklers and a good product this is a good choice. Manufacturer Support: Never contacted them or needed too. The Wow Factor: Think about the serious rock stars who have played his type of guitar. Peolpe comment on it all the time. It has the look that is for sure. Overall: I'm staying with this one for a while. Before I set it up the way I have it now I was already looking around but now I'm in love with it...lol
