First off I'd like to say Epiphone guitars are probably the best bang for the buck out there! If you're a "name snob", you're missing out.I'm not a professional. I'm a guitarist of 30+ years and I was in need of a bass. I've owned basses in the past but it just didn't click. Either the neck was too wide, the string spacing was not comfortable, too expensive for a hobby that may pass, the list goes on... I've owned MANY Epis in the past so I wasn't afraid of quality issues. Naturally I migrated toward a brand I trust. This isn't the only bass I tried. I played several brands in the 5 bill range but this is the bass that I chose.Over all fit and finish is wonderful in my opinion. Not based on price range but simple beauty. There are no obvious finish flaws. No dings, runs, thin spots, whatever. The hardware is straight (no crooked tuners), the frets are smooth and level, the fretboard is evenly colored, the inlays don't have any weird black edges...Now a lot of folks complain about the bridge and how difficult the adjustments are. BS. I was able to adjust my perfectly IMO in minutes! There are three adjustment points. A little common sense is required. Obviously the bridge works or the Gibson/Epiphone companies would replace it!!! The bridge pickup gets knocked often for it's "thinness". I raised mine and balanced the volume. Sounds great. Simple stuff a guitarist should know. The huge retro tuners stay I tune (as they should). Again, common sense applies. Strings stretch. The neck read more is thin and easy to navigate. My hands are not small nor are they large but people with either will have no problems with this bass. Access to ALL the frets is really a plus to me. Weather or not you use all the frets is one thing. To have frets that can't be accessed is another. My only complaint is the neck dive. The EB-3 is a little neck heavy. A simple remedy for this is a quality strap. Try one out. You'll like it.
