Epiphone El Capitan IV Acoustic-Electric Bass

No longer available at zZounds
Piezo/Epiphonic-6 pickup. Maple body.

The great thing about the acoustic-electric bass is that you can practice without an amp. Work on your tone acoustically then plug you bass into an amp. You will experience the fat, punchy tone that every player desires. The best of both the electrical and acoustical world come together in these basses from Epiphone. The El Capitan has a bound Maple body, 34 in. scale set Maple neck with a bound Rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays, and Chrome hardware. The versatile Epiphonic-6 pickup provides tone every bit as good, if not better than the bass on its own! This instrument will cover Rock, Bluegrass, Jazz, Polka, you name it!

I bought this one based on price and availability...they had it at the local store. Wife talked me into it. I love playing it. I am going to use it until it won't work anymore. Not sure what I will do then.
Sound
very woody, deep and rich. stays in tune well. As with most acoustic/electric basses, you will need an amp if you are doing anything more than practicing by yourself. I run it through a Hartke Kickback 12, and it sounds wonderful.
Features
Battery compartment a little tough to get into, but pre-amp works well.
Ease of Use
very playable. you are not going to be burning up the frets, but this is the wrong instrument for that!
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with Epiphone.
The Wow Factor
It works for what I need it for. It is a large instrument, so make sure you can carry it onstage.
