The combination of a '57 humbucker in the bridge and a mini-humbucker in the neck position allows for a wide range of styles to be duplicated or explored. "Hum, growl, skeem or anything n between, this guitar is gonna be a classic one day."

Sound: I'm playing through a Digitech 200 into a Peavey Bravo and the more I play it the more I cut the effects and let the Kat and the Peavey play together - especially on the clean channel. Both pickups respond really well to the dynamics of my playing - easy to get a sharp clean edge to full thick chunk of sound. Feature: It has a global tone control - some might want tone pots for each pickup. I don't miss it. I like the master volume, easy to use while playing. The selector switch is just a tad awkward in its location for me. Quality: The body and the pick-ups I give a 10+. A beautiful guitar full binding, even the f-holes. Pickups are versitle and good quality. Good tuners and strap pegs I give the lower rating becasue of the pots. I bought mine a little over a year ago(?) and maybe they've fixed this, but I had to replace the tone pot and the 3 way switch within a month. It wasn't a big deal or expensive to replace, but there's no excuse for pissy pots in a guitar of this caliber. Value: I give this a 12! Could be I'm now predjudiced, but really, the Kat just has too much versitality and tone for anything near or above it in price. I mean I get a real "feel" when I play this at least as good as most stock Gibby's I've played. Manufacturer Support: I have no idea. The Wow Factor: I feel like I can work with this guitar - seems very personal. Looks great, well balanced and hum, growl and skra-reem. Does the work of three guitars. Wahat more does anybody want? Overall: This is a keeper. I have a feeling it's going to get better as it ages. Found some hot tips on tweeking this Kat over on Harmony Central. Not anxious to change anything yet as I'm still exploring the subtleties and dynamics, which stock are rich and varied.

"Good overall"

Sound: Great clean sound with lots of variety in the different pickup settings, however after owning for about 6 years I have noticed the screws are all pretty rusty. Feature: Really nice smooth acousticy clean, as well as a fat raunchy drive with the treble turned up. Quality: Quality is definitely lacking, the electronics as well as the main pieces ain't so great. Value: Well, if you've got a few hundred bucks to spare it's probably sensible to upgrade to a real Gibson and save yourself some headache with the cheaper parts, though it is a nice instrument in terms of sound. Manufacturer Support: Never dealt. The Wow Factor: Very nice looking. Overall: Well, I never have been able to or will be for a while to afford a new guitar but this baby has done me pretty decently.
