Description
From Our Catalog
The MA-7A Stereo Reference Speakers are the ideal solution for musicians and computer users who demand the best audio quality possible in a very confined space. The MA-7As are extraordinarily small reference speakers, but are capable of producing incredible sound. These speakers are perfect for desktop use, where space is of the utmost consideration.

Features:
Bass Enhancer

Front-accessible Volume & Tone controls

Subwoofer output port for bass boost

7W-per-channel desktop monitor (pair)

76mm (3 in.) full-range speaker, bass-reflex enclosure

2 independent source inputs; 1/8 in. line and RCA pin line (L/R)

1/8 in. headphone port

Magnetically shielded

The MA-7As feature a built-in Bass Enhancer, which operates on psychoacoustic principles that converts low frequencies into a series of overtones the human ear cannot distinguish from the original low frequencies. This allows the listener to perceive bas frequencies outside of the normal range of the speaker cone, without overdriving the woofer. With the Bass Enhancer, the MA-7As provide a strong low-end in a very compact set of reference speakers. In addition the MA-7A's offer a Sub Out port to connect a subwoofer.

The MA-7As offer conveniently placed Volume and Tone controls. Adjust the volume and tone directly from the front of the speaker. While a large studio setup typically uses a mixer to control output level to the speakers, compact desktop setups can rarely afford the space a mixer requires. This is not an issue with the MA-7As. You can adjust your output volume and tone on the front of the speaker.

You can also connect two different sources directly into the MA-7As, allowing you to listen to audio from any two line-level sources. For example, you can have both your computer and your stereo connected to the MA-7As.

You can also plug headphones directly into the MA-7As. Plugging in headphones automatically defeats the speakers, allowing you to mix without disturbing others, and without having to disconnect anything in your setup.

The MA-7As are magnetically shielded for close proximity to your computer monitor.
Tiny speakers, big sound! RCA and 1/8" inputs. Front-panel volume and tone controls, plus 1/8" headphone out. Full-range 3" speakers.

"Great Quality, Great Sound."
Feature:
You can connect two sound sources at the same time, volume, treble and bass control, bass enhancer, headphone output. What do you want more ?

Quality:
When you see or hold these speakers the first time you immediately realize that they are of high quality, but this is to be expected. After all, Edirol belongs to the Roland company.

Value:
For that price you simply can not get anything better

Desirability:
I highly recommend the Edirol MA7, Looks are not important. Looks before quality ? - we leave this to the music industrie. They already provide us with enough acts where looks are more important than quality and sound. But then - these speakers look look AND sound better than most of the by the music industrie promoted acts. (If you do not play this kind of plastic music through them that is)

Sound:
You will be pleasantly surprised how good these little active speakers sound. Although I heard some people complaining about the bass response of these speakers, but I do not understand why. Even without the build in bass-enhancer engaged, these speakers deliver a powerful and clear bass sound. Also the mids and highs, all sounds crystal clear and even, unbelievable for such small speakers. There is no volume problem, - it is stated these are 7 watts per side, but they seem to be rather loud 7 watts. I can imagine that even if you place these speakers in a really big room, (NOW you need the bass enhancer) the volume of these speakers won´t let you down. They are of course not professional studio monitors, you can´t get pro gear for that price, but for what they are, I highly recommend the Edirol MA7

Ease of Use:
Yes, easy to use, just switch off while making cable connections

Support:
I do not know, but have heard good - so I give it a 8

Overall:
I am sometimes doing on-location recordings and I needed a small and transportable pair of active speakers to enable customers a quick listen to the recording. First I thought to get the SM Studiopro 3 - they cost the same but are two-way speakers compared to the Edirol that has only one woofer. But on second thoughts I decided to get the Edirols purely because of Rolands reputation of quality. Also I imagine to build a two way speaker for the same price, there must be a catch somewhere, - this usually is in terms of quality.

Edirol MA7A Micro Monitor Customer Review
Feature:
Price! They are in the same price class as standard pc speakers (granted 5.1 pc speakers probably) and although they do not provide the same bass, its enough for recording/listening and Im sure has a flatter response! So if you're on a budget or would like something small get these!

Quality:
Great quality, solid build!

Value:
Great Value, though buy only if recording, pc speakers probably give a more discoey bassey sound. the price is the clincher for me.

Desirability:
nice and small, cute monitors. If you are serious about recording, these wont replace real monitors, but are a cheap solution.

Sound:
Impressive Sound, Decent Bass for size however I feel the bass enhancer is more of a gimmick, for any serious recording I would not use it as even though it adds more low end, it somehow sounds a bit forced, I can imagine the eq being very drastically altered near the low end. However, I think they could definitely be used for recording with this off, and a real sub connected to them if desired. They are plenty loud as well, (as long as you are not using them to monitor drums or anything!!)

Ease of Use:
Very customizable sound, tune to desired bass/highs just dont use the enhancer for recording!

Support:
DOnt know

Overall:
Ill use them for a while and throw them away in a few years.
