Dynaudio BM6A MKII Active Nearfield Monitor

A 150-watt version of Dynaudio's well-known BM5a, the BM6a active monitors offer higher headroom. Tune them to your room with the on-board LF/MF/HF filters.

The Dynaudio Acoustics BM6A MKII active nearfield monitors take the industry-standard Dynaudio BM5A MKII powered loudspeakers to the next level, with the addition of 60 additional watts. That means the BM6A MKII is a powerful 150-watt studio monitor -- delivering a sound that is impressively rich and detailed, while true-to-life in its dynamic rendering.

Lots of Extra Power with Little Extra Weight

The BM6A MKIIs deliver an even more astounding output-to-size ratio than the BM5A, weighing in at about 25 pounds. They provide present, crystal-clear sonic images -- even when they're at the super-loud upper range. The BM6As are a true dual-amplifer design, delivering a maximum 118 dB RMS SPL. Each speaker delivers 150 watts of transient power: 50 watts through the tweeter, and 100 watts through the woofers. With extra power in the bass, these Dynaudio monitors are particularly excellent for electronic musicians or beat producers.

Higher Headroom Means More Accurate Bass

The sound of this near-field monitor is decidedly more accurate in the bass than most other monitors due to its cool-running, high output design. The high end in the mix is benefitted immensely by the special soft dome tweeter that retains and conveys the subtlest sparkling overtones and transients in your mix. In mixing or playback sessions, it does an exceptional job at revealing levels of detail and dynamic subtleties that are lacking on other systems. And it does all of this while offering a read more dynamic response that is balanced and is pleasing to the ear.

Speakers Built by Hand

The speakers inside the BM6A MKIIs are entirely handcrafted in a proprietary design with custom alloys and papers. The compression driver cone is a Esotec 28 mm soft dome with a rear chamber design and magnetic fluid cooling. The front is comprised of a special 4mm aluminum. The woofer cone is a 7-inch molded aluminum frame design, with a one-piece thermo-formed MSP cone. The wire voice coil is made of 75mm pure aluminum wire. These details are what makes a Dynaudio a Dynaudio!

Fine Tunable to the Room

Each BM6A MKII comes with three integrated analog room-specific filters to help you properly balance the perceived sound of the speakers in relation to the environment where they are situated. On the Back of the BM6A MKII, you'll low-frequency shelf, mid-frequency notch, and high-frequency shelf switches. Use these tools to help compensate for boomy or ringing rooms.

Wastes No Weight or Space

Each BM6A MKII monitor weighs a mere 20 pounds, making it one of the lighter powered speakers out there for the size. If you're considering a pair of BM5A MKIIs, and you know you want to monitor at loud volumes, the BM6A monitors are a stellar upgrade.

Excellent packager overall - looks sleek, excellent sound, easy to setup, easy to control.
Sound
Best sound I've experienced. Very clear, good low end, although you do need subwoofer for bass-heavy music (like hip-hop or electronic). Very good for mixing.
Features
I wish they had XLR pass-through to connect sub from them.
Ease of Use
Nothing to it, really - you plug in and off you go.
Quality
Very well built. Heavy, thick wood, top notch.
Value
Best sound so far, although expensive. Well worth it if you can afford it.
