About This Product!
Description
The main difference between the Heavy Blues and the other Virtual Vintage¬ models is less in terms of tone than power — it's more intense. High notes are fatter, and lows have more kick. You can install the Heavy Blues in all 3 pickup positions, but they've also found that a Blues in the neck position, a Vintage in the middle and a Heavy Blues in the bridge spot will create a very neat combination of warm neck, fat bridge, and bright 2 and 4 notch position sounds.

Recommended for bridge position, but can be used in neck and middle with hotter bridge models like the Virtual Vintage Solo, Chopper, or Pro Track.

DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues Pickup Reviews

"Hum canceling is the main thing about this pickup."
Feature:
I picked it up because of the resonant peak, the output and the look. This last item has suffered a little, cause the shield and the original pickup were not absolutely white, as the VV is. One will even like this, but I'd rather to have the original look untouched. If your shield is strictly white, you won't have to claim about it. A matter of taste.

Quality:
Ok the pickup doesn't have any problem. It's been there for two years now. However, the wires are so thin... When I compared them to the originals, before installing it, I was even afraid. DiMarzio's wires are very thin.

Value:
Ok, reasonable value.

Desirability:
Nice pickup for keeping the sound almost the same, with hum canceling and a little bit more crunch.

Sound:
I put this one in my USA Am. Std. and got satisfied. It doesn't change the original sound so much, the major benefit being the hum canceling. The previous character of the bridge sound was kept almost the same.

Support:
Won't rate cause I didn't have to use it.

Overall:
One thing called my attention: altougth the output of this one is higher than the VV Blues, if you install it in the bridge position, with a blues on the neck, the clean volume of the neck will still be MUCH higher than the Bridge's Heavy Blues. A nice pickup, with almost the same character of Fender's originals - for good and evil.
