Class A, all tube circuitry.

Take a simple cathode-biased Class A tube circuit, add a tone stack and 12" speaker, and you’ve got a small recording/practice amp with some lead in its pencil.

The new V18-112 combo features a single-channel 18 Watt Class A design with gain and master volume controls, 3-band EQ, and spring reverb for awesome tone and versatility. This baby produces sweet cleans and the warm, crunchy overdrive that can only come from its dual cathode biased EL84 output tubes pumping their searing mojo into a single 12 inch speaker.

"Best tube amp for the Money, Great practice amp."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've tried to replace it with teh Marshall Class 5 but I ended up taking the Class 5 back because it didn't sound as ballsy and wasn't loud enough. I'm keeping this amp until it breaks then i'll buy another $200. Worth every penny. Loud. It isn't a Marshall but it's a steal at $200-$300 bucks. GREAT practice amp. Nice and light and loud and looks great and sounds really great for hard rock.

Sound
I have a Marshall Vintage Modern which sounds amazing but weighs a ton. I use the Crate V18 as a practice tube amp and it really shines, especially for the money. It's light and sounds great with an OD pedal. It even sounds good when I plug my acoustic/electric into it. I play hard rock and metal on it but the clean tone is sweet too. I leave the reverb off but I also leave it off on my Vintage Modern. Best tube amp for the money hands down.

Features
Nothing special, just the way I like it.

Ease of Use
Crank it up, plug in an OD pedal, turn the reverb off and give'er. Make sure the volume is on 3 or higher and it'll be way louder than the drums and the tone will be great.

Quality
I play the crap out of it and it always works.

Value
Again, for the money you WILL NOT find a better tube amp. You can buy 3 or 4 of these for the price of other middle of the road tube amps....and this one sounds better. I have a Traynor YCV read more 50 and I like the Crate way better. Don't get me wrong,I record with my Marshall but if you want killer tube sound without the weight of a 2x12 Marshall and the price tag of a Mesa this is the amp you're looking for. Great 2nd amp.

Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed any.

The Wow Factor
Looks sexy. Love the old school chrome toggle switch and it has the look of a American made motorcycle. The V18 logo on the front is my favourite feature.

Musical Background:
Playing guitar for 20+ years, currently in a hard rock band, I have a discerning ear and I usually only play Marshalls.

Musical Style:
Rock, Hard Rock, Metal
