"The Casio CTK691: A Very Good Value For The Money!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Overall a great sounding keyboard! If lost or stolen I'll buy another one. For the cost of this keyboard it does what I expect of it. Probaly later I will buy a full fledge keyboard workstation. But for now I have the ctk691 for which I'm very satisfied with.

Sound
The sounds in the ctk691 are very good. Lots of pianos and organs to mess around with. With the pianos there isn't much variation between them. But what I did was pull some of the pianos to the user area and used the synth function to change them up a little. I also used some of the effects, which are very good,to spice them up. No other keyboard in this price range can do this. Casio has made some good advances here.

Features
As stated before the effects are very good. There are alot of effects to add some zest to the sounds. The synth function, though not well equipped, is functional; hey what do you expect from a keyboard under $250.00? The sequencer seems ok. It's a scratch pad sequencer. Something to get your ideas down quick. Select a beat and start playing.

Quality
Well it's made of plastic. I dare not to drop it or smack those keys so hard when I'm playing; fear I might break the keys. But it seems well put together.

Value
I'll tell ya the ctk691 is full of good sounds, and effects, plus expandability! And the keyboard looks great. A good value for the money. I checked out the Yamaha psr292, read more and the only things the psr292 has over the casio ctk691 is its ep. sounds and the education suite feature, which I really don't need.

Manufacturer Support
Haven't dealt with Casio support center yet. I guess time will tell. The Casio Music Site seems well maintained. They promised an update in March; we'll see.

The Wow Factor
Like I stated before the ctk691 looks great! The blue screen is very cool. And surprisingly the keys feels great to play; for me at least. You have to go and check it out for yourself.

Musical Style:
jazz, r&b, gospel, whatever.
