The newest series from CAD, all Trion mics feature dual diaphragms and come in 3 different flavors. The Trion 8000 is a tube mic featuring a larger 1.25 in. diaphragm.

The Trion 8000 is a multi-pattern, externally biased, large dual diaphragm studio tube condenser microphone. The Trion 8000 incorporates a sophisticated, precision-machined, hand-assembled capsule. The low mass 1.12 in. gold vapor deposited, hand dampened diaphragms offer the warm, rich and open classic tube sound ideal for studio vocal recordings in the digital realm. Exceptional sensitivity, low distortion and an extended frequency response make the Trion 8000 an outstanding performer.

Discrete Class A electronics provide transparent, accurate sound reproduction. The transformer-coupled output ensures excellent RF immunity, cancellation of cable capacitance, and rejection of induced line noise. A 3-position polar pattern switch provides selection of omnidirectional, cardioid or figure-8 polar patterns for versatility and flexibility demanded in the professional recording environment.

The rugged metal housing and construction provide the durability required to withstand the harsh day-to-day demands of both live and studio applications. Featuring a heritage design, the Trion 8000 offers an aesthetically pleasing industrial profile. Accurate sound reproduction, high SPL capability and warm tube performance make this an excellent choice for the recording professional. Shock mount, heavy-duty aluminum carrying case, 25-foot 6-pin connector cable, and power supply are included. 115/230 VAC power required. zZounds is an authorized dealer of CAD products.

"Just get it."

Sound: Got it and recorded my first vocal session and was blown away at the responsiveness of this mic. I am a very discerning ear and feel that this is a great buy. Feature: No pad with this mic but so far none is needed. Ease of Use: Plug and play is a time saver. Let it warm up and you will more than like this mic. Quality: Hard to tell at this point. Just got it but so far it has been great. Value: This is where this mic truly shines. I have use Neumann, AKG and others and this has by far been the best buy for the money. Manufacturer Support: If it works no need for support. I am not in a position to rate this side yet. The Wow Factor: Definitely a classic design. Overall: I hope to be experiencing this quality for a very long time.

"GREAT MIC.... TERRIBLE CABLE!"

Sound: Great warm sound.... nothing else to say! Its Great! Feature: The switchable pickup patterns are GREAT! I love them! However, I gave this a 7 because my 6 pin cable didn't last very long (about 6 months) under NO abuse or movement, and fining a replacement has been UNSUCCESFUL!!!! If anyone out there knows of a replacement (6 pin) please email me (dw154515@reddies.hsu.edu) Ease of Use: Its a tube mic... plug it up, turn it on, let it set for a little while, make rich warm sounds! Quality: I give a 7 simply because of the 6 pin cable issue (see above) but the mic itself is in great shape. Value: You really cant beat the sound. I truly love it! Manufacturer Support: Tried emailing them twice about a replacement cable, but they have failed to return a response. (Its been around 3 months since I contacted them the first time) The Wow Factor: Its hot! Overall: Great mic, but be sure to pick up an extra 6 pin cable if you can ever get your hands on one!!
