This version of the highly-popular 1990 allows switching between full-throttle pentode or more harmonic triode (60-Watt) modes. Bugera gave Clean and Lead channels separate master volume and reverb controls. They tossed in a dual-control footswitch others charge extra for. Infinium Valve Life Multiplier Technology

Bugera's revolutionary Infinium Valve Life Multiplier technology is like having your very own technician inside your amp constantly monitoring and tweaking valve performance for the ultimate in tonal integrity and reliability. This revolutionary circuit not only optimizes the performance of each output tube, it dynamically balances the drive between them to more evenly distribute the load. With Infinium, your tubes last up to 20 times longer, saving you substantial money over the lifespan of your amplifier. Infinium also compensates for the effects of aging, automatically adjusting current levels to keep your valves sounding as good as the day they were installed.

If and when a valve does reach the end of its life, the system even tells you which one to replace. All you need to do is replace the faulty valve and let Infinium take care of the rest for you. This all adds up to more consistent sound quality and longer life for your valves. Maintenance for valve amps has never been this easy!

Sound: This thing sounds just like a Jcm900 if you upgrade the tubes. Ive had many heads in the past(jcm900, 5150, triple x's, jxs's) and this one is right up there with those. This head does exactly what i wanted it to and sounds way better than expected, cleans are great, the clean is even a great overdrive channel if you turn the gain up. the Actual gain channel is great as well, has more distortion than you will ever need unless you are playing straight up metal and with a nice overdrive pedal ie-tubescreamer that would be no problem. But of course it helps if you put some nice quality valves in it. Feature: I love how you can turn on/off the reverb on it with the footswitch although it would be nice if it had an indicator light so you could tell when its off/on. Love the pentode triode switch on the back to cut the power in half. Controls are practically identical to a jcm900. The infinum actually helps to, if you switch power amp tubes it auto bias them so you don't have to mess with that and it lets you know exactly which tube is burnt out as well which is a very nice feature. Ease of Use: Really easy to use got a great tone dialed in, in about 5 minutes pretty much have kept it since. Quality: The head seems pretty sturdy so far and i think the former faults of bugera have long passed. But of course the wood used is not as high of a quality as you would get in a jcm 900 but who cares its just the head right? Switch out the tubes and you've got one hell of an amp head at one hell of a price. Value: best amp head for the money without a doubt if you're looking for a high gain rock head. I would probably buy it over a jcm900 to be honest just because it sounds identical and its half the price. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to deal with them yet but i've heard they're pretty good. The Wow Factor: Killer head, one of the best investments I've made in a while Overall: Great amp Great Price, BUY IT!!!

Overall: First off,let me say Bugera has GREAT customer service. They had to replace two of these 1990s for me. The first lasted two months. The second just two weeks. In fairness though,I own the original 1990,some of which had quality control issues. These new Infinium versions are very reliable with all of the Q.C. issues resolved. Great tone. Simple. Strait forward. Basically a Marshall JCM900 clone but with more gain! Two channels - clean & overdrive. Pretty good clean but it is the drive channel that kicks butt here! I know from experience that the cab one uses is the key to a great tone with these heads. If you use a lower end cab (Bugera,Behringer etc.) it will sound good,but I'm using a Marshall JCM900 cab with 2 Celestion G12s & 2 Warehouse Guitar Vet 30s for a sick mid drenched Marshall tone to die for! This is a great head for the money. I really like it...
