You Can't Rock When You Aren't In Tune
It's a nightmare that comes true for almost every performing guitarist sooner or later: you're up on stage, playing your heart out, but something is not quite right. Your fingers are where they should be on the fretboard, but the sound doesn't match up. Your guitar has gone out of tune. You hack your way through the song, then desperately try to tune by ear as the bass player peppers the crowd with witty stage banter. It's not his strong suit. "How's everybody feelin'!" and "Are ready to rock?" come off smooth enough, but you can tell there's not much more in the tank as he shoots you a sideways "deer-in-headlights" glance. But you just can't hear well enough to know if you've fixed the problem or made it worse. You've got a little tuner in your gig bag, but that's tucked away behind the drum kit. And you'd never be able to see the display on this dark stage anyway. If only you had a tuner that was always connected to your instrument and could let you easily see what adjustments you need to make. If only you had a Boss TU-2.

Built for the Stage
Everything about the TU-2 points to stage-ready performance. The familiar stompbox shape sits comfortably among your other pedals, so there's no need to run back to your amp every time you want to tune. It's in-line with your signal path, and ready to tune whenever you are. The metal chassis is built for the rigors of the road. You know what happens when gear gets tossed into the back of the van. read more A cheap plastic tuner isn't going to cut it. This tuner features a bypass output, which mutes your sound when the pedal is engaged. You've worked hard to make your set flow smoothly, so you should tune in silence. There's no need to disrupt the transitions with loud, ringing, off-pitch racket (unless you're into that sort of thing).

To Battery, or Not To Battery
The TU-2 offers battery operation (with power save mode when disengaged), but can also be powered using the optional PSA120S AC adapter. In fact, this tuner can act as the nerve center for your entire pedalboard. With the AC adapter and the optional PCS20A Daisy Chain cable, your TU-2 can feed power to up to seven other effects pedals. Instead of spending big bucks on replacement batteries and wondering when one or more of them is going to fade out during the gig, you can juice-up your whole rig with one adapter! You're in-tune, you're saving money, and your signal chain is organized and reliable.

Easy to Read, Easy to Use
When you're out of tune, you want to get back in as fast as you can. You need a tuner that will tell you what's going on with your pitch at a glance, and give you instant feedback about the changes you're making. No tuner does this better than the TU-2. Strike an open string on your guitar or bass, and a seven-segment LED displays the closest note name to the current pitch. A second display (eleven LEDs) shows you how far off that note you are. In "stream" mode, these LEDs light in a clockwise rotation when you're flat and counter-clockwise when you're sharp. The speed of the rotation slows when you're close to the pitch, then stops when you're right on. In "cent" mode, the center LED turns green when you're on pitch and the LEDs to the right and the left glow red when you're sharp or flat. It's easy to see exactly what you need to do to get back on pitch, even on the darkest stages.

Chromata-whatsis?
The TU-2 is a chromatic tuner, meaning you can isolate any of the twelve tones in the chromatic scale for reference. This makes it easy to set your guitar up for standard tuning, drop D, DADGAD, open tunings, and any other pitch scheme you can think of. This tuner also offers flat and double-flat modes for both guitar and bass. You can get a little lower than normal without having to transpose each interval in your head. Set it to double-flat bass mode, for example and tune to standard E A D G. You'll actually be tuned to D G C F, but you won't have to think about it.

If you're playing on stage in front of a crowd, you owe it to yourself (and your fans) to bring the best sound you can. Let the Boss TU-2 worry about the pitch; you just focus on your tone.

Boss TU-2 Tuner and Power Supply Pedal

The Boss TU2 Chromatic Tuner incorporates Boss's world-renowned TU-Series tuner technology into an ultra-convenient stompbox design. For the first time ever, guitarists and bassists can now tune their instruments with Boss accuracy with just a single stomp. No extra cables, no searching for your tuner -- it's right beneath your feet, ready for a tune up!

The World's Most Convenient Stage Tuner
The Boss TU2 Chromatic Tuner gives performing guitarists and bassists exactly what they're after: Boss tuning accuracy in a convenient, ultra-reliable stompbox design. Thanks to its 7-segment LED which displays note name and a bright 11-point LED indicator which indicates tuning discrepancy, the TU2 will always keep you in tune - even on the darkest of stages. Ensuring complete accuracy, the TU2 even goes a step further than other stage tuners by including a unique "stream" meter which slows LED movement as a note's pitch becomes more accurate (LED movement stops once tuning is accurate).

The TU2 offers a total of 7 tuning modes -- Chromatic, Guitar Regular, Guitar Flat, Guitar Double Flat, Bass Regular, Bass Flat, and Bass Double Flat -- which can be selected and easily stored in memory along with its display settings. A selectable Mute/Bypass instantly permits silent tuning with a single stomp, while the footswitchable Tuner Off mode preserves battery life when not in use. For performing guitarists and bassists looking to keep their instruments in tune quickly and reliably, there's no better solution than the TU2.

"A one time buy that is spendy but worth it!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Somewhat spendy, but it's worth it because you will never buy another tuner ever again.
Sound
The bypass is a true bypass. No sound comes from your amp which is what it's supposed to do.
Features
Bunch of different ways to tune, with flat and double flat and bass modes. Also, it DOES tune to lower tunings such as drop c!
Ease of Use
There is 3 buttons, which explain themselves. I didn't read the manual ever and have NEVER had an issue.
Quality
It's a boss pedal. It will last longer than you or any other kind of guitar accessories you own.
Value
I felt bad spending this much money for a tuner, but the thing about this tuner is that it does its job perfectly. I've bought a behringer plastic tuner and the thing was a joke; it broke in about it week.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to deal with them, but there's a couple years guarantee with the product so they will back it up, although I don't know how you could break the thing unless you were trying to.
The Wow Factor
The lights blink and the strobe tune mode is flashy.
